Default 1st World dilemma

Which wheels to use. Oddly, the car came with orig 20" with 8-10 years old winter tires. And a 19" set followed with 1 year old Pirelli P Zeros. Should have been the other way around.

Until now I drove the 20" and it drove fine, I don't take it to the track or anything. But I felt it better to use up the 19" with the good summer tires. I don't plan to use the car in snow.

But what about the looks. Should I wear down the 19" which can take me 2 years? Or buy tires for 20"? Are the 19" (one has major curb damage) worth anything to anybody, what car were they for, do they fit other than Jag?

Picture of 19" and 20", they all drive well

I think the 20's fit the look of your car better. From an artistic viewpoint I see no problem here.

I also prefer the look of the 20" Senta wheels.

I would keep the pairing as is. The 19" are better fit for the car and are more robust tire. 20" is more for looks and 19" is actually a better riding wheel. Fix them up and maybe even paint them a darker grey to freshen the look!

None of them are any good; ship them all to me and go buy a set of something else.

Thumbs up

I would put decent tires on both sets and run the one you like the most at the moment and change to the other when you want a different looks. I ended up with a set of Toba's from a newer XJ and they have =10% taller tires on the 19" rims and it gives the car a lowered appearance while riding sedan smooth. Thin sidewalls means rougher ride and more likely to bend the rim.

Taller tires giving it a lowered look...

Is that just the wheels or would you like him to ship the car too?

The car will have a smoother ride with the 19s, as well as better protection from wheels bending when hitting pot holes. Handling is also a bit better with 19s as they absorb bumps better during cornering. For street driving you will never feel any cornering advantage from the larger wheel/tire combo. The 20s do look somewhat better...

Not an unreasonable request by any means.

Hey Mikael,
I think the 20" Sentas are the best looking wheel Jaguar has ever put on a car. I like my 20" Kalimnos, but I'd trade in a minute for the Sentas. The 19" wheels will, indeed, ride a little better and withstand potholes better as well, but the Sentas are much nicer looking.

Both sets of wheels are nice. But, the 20" wheels & tires look like they are made specifically for the XK.

Your wheels look great! Did you run them the same size all around, or are they staggered? What size are they?

They are Toba's from an XJ. I want to say 8.5" front and 9.5" in the back, 19" diameter although the sale pages show them as 9" front and 10" rear... The XJ runs a taller tire so they fill the wheel opening up and there's a 20mm H+R spacer on the rears.

I have my 19" Jupiter's in the shed but they need redone. These Toba's actually look like a more refined version of the Jupiter, smother and less angular.

Double 5 spoke wheel designs have always looked "right" on XJs and XKs.
