2007 Jaguar XK Convertible, Pollen/Cabin Air Filter?
2007 Jaguar XK Convertible, Cabin Air Filter? I’m a new member to the forum, trying to locate the pollen filter/cabin air filter on a 2007 XK convertible with no luck. Can someone please assist me in this process (pictures will be very helpful)? Thank you in advance.
Before you buy, make sure you have the housing for the filter, alot of us pre-07s thought we had it, when in fact, we didn't.
Just check with your dealer, though mine couldn't tell by the VIN, they had to physically look. Good luck.

H2O, thank you for your response. According to the dealer it does carry a filter, which they want to charge in the excess of $200 to replace. I'm not sure exactly where the filter is located and how to replace, so any help is appreciated.
We've got plenty of DIYers skookhan, problem is, we don't have the number of members in the 07 and up XK area that we do in the other forums, its that simple. It may take a few more days to get an answer to your question, but just in case you want to try it...
here's a thread in the XK8/R section that may give you some insight...possibly a place to start.

Sweet, getting ready to buy a pre-owned 08 XK and this is invaluable. Two questions though:
1. Is the 08 the same
2. Filter P/N or best recommendation brand/where to buy?
Cheers

The part number may be C2P2410.
A few months ago my local dealer quoted about $155 installed. The parts desk quoted $105 just for the filter. I think MSRP is supposed to be about $75, but I could be wrong. Out of curosity I called several other dealers within 200 miles and quotes ranged from $75 to $95 for the filter alone.
You should be able to find a genuine Jaguar parts online U.S. source for perhaps $65 + $10 shipping to your address. One U.S. Jaguar parts online purveyor sells them for about $35 but that may not be genuine Jaguar, too inexpensive.
Non-Jaguar filters to fit usually list about $40 upwards online or at chain auto supply stores.
The genuine Jaguar one has bits of charcoal or some such embedded in the filter material.
I, too, broke a filter box door tab. It is otherwise a relatively simple task.

The Jag dealer wants +$100 for the filter, but it is available from Advance Auto for ~$53 ... still a ridiculous price. The engine air filter is $19 from Advance Auto, same construction and larger!
It takes about 2 minutes to unscrew the right side cover fasteners and open up the cabin filter box top. How the Jag dealer can in good conscience charge an additional $100 is unfathomable!
As an alternative to replacing the filter, take the cabin filter out and tap the "dirty" side on the pavement to shake out the big stuff. If you have compressed air, clean it further by blowing between the pleats on the dirty side, then through the pleats to get the smaller dust and pollen particles.
BTW, I always set my air to recirculation in all my vehicles ... who needs all that "fresh" air coming in full of moisture, diesel, smoke, industrial, car exhaust smells and more heat anyway? And having recirculation allows the A/C to cool down better and remove the moisture. My GMC truck and '97 XK8 keep the recirculation setting once set. But my '07 XKR turns it off everytime the engine is turned off!
If it is nice enough for outdoor air, then one can open a window.

Using these instructions I popped out the filter on the pre-owned 08 I just bought in a few minutes and was surprised to find a BRAND NEW filter in there. Maybe the dealer I bought it from wasn't BS'ing me when he said the car was "fully serviced".
And does anyone know of any on-line source for those plastic screw/plug thingies? I'd like to have a few spares on hand.

Tom,
I couldn't see paying around $6 each for those things. Mine was missing all but two so I went down to the auto parts store and found some bumper retainers that looked like them and used them. I think I got 8 for $3.

Thanks for the tip.

The engine side cover screw/socket is "Clip" part # XR812941, ~$5.09 from our Jag dealer, still about double what the price should be.
It took 3 visits to the dealer for me to get some. They could not find the "microfiche" with the correct picture. Finally, one of the guys went to the back room and rummaged through a box to find them.
Go to www.JagBits.com or call them at tel. (888) 524-2487 (located in Portage MI). They probably will not have the part listed on their website, but send them an email and they will get them for you. They are VERY personable and have been helpful getting obscure parts for my 1997 XK8 at about 2/3 to 1/2 the price of the dealer! And free shipping for orders over $100 which isn't hard to do with a Jaguar.

Trust me you'll know when you pull it out. The one in my 07 Z06 hadn't been changed in over two years when I bought it and as soon as I pulled it out crap started falling out of all the pleats to include a few dried up leaves.
You can always drop w few times in a hard surface to dislodge most of the debris so you can use it until you buy a new one, but a dirty cabin filter is easy to see.
