Hi everyone, I've got a question about a 2007 XK which my brother-in-law has come across. It's a XKR without any of the R emblems on it. It has the louvered scoups on the bonnet with "supercharged" on them. On the back of the car it has the XK badge with an S next to it on the passenger side and 4.2 on the drivers side. Have put the Reg in the check MOT history and it comes up as just an XK.
This is the only photo we have at the moment. 2007 XK Mystery
Will post more if I get any. Have any of you come across another one like this or have any ideas of why the badging is different? I've done all the usual searching and come up with nothing so far. We haven't got the VIN but once we get it we will get it touch with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. I will keep you informed with how the purchase goes. If we find out any more imformation I will post it on here.
Car is in the U.K. Look forward to any replies. Take care. Andy
Some owners remove badges, others add them. The S appears to be a genuine Jaguar badge (see item 5) although it doesn't belong on a Normally Aspirated model:

Reason: Typo
I'd love more pictures, especially of the engine bay and the interior. Someone has added extra badging here. The "leaper" was not on these cars in 2007. It was added for the first face-lifted cars (the 5.0L cars). The "S" After XK is also not original. This is added badging as well. The 4.2 was not on cars in the American market but I have seen it on European XK's.
If it actually is an XKR, the steering wheel will not have wood on it and both the shift lever and the bottom of the steering wheel will have the "R" logo. If these are missing, my guess is that the bonnet was replaced with that of an XKR, possibly indicating collision repair or a "poser" wanting to look like they have an XKR. A picture of the engine bay, the front of the car, and the interior will reveal if this is an XK or an XKR. It certainly is not some special edition, i.e. "XKS" or the like.
The S and Leaper were added but I think on the XK60 model the 4.2 was OEM... I don't believe the XK60 had hood scopes, so those would have been added as well. More pictures would be nice...

Im backing it's a XK-S limited edition as they came out with the xk60 square tips and S badging, however to my knowledge these were only available in Australia . https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.top...71844.amp.html

The XK-S looks like it was a 2009 car and the XK60 was a late 2008 car but this one was registered in January 2007 and the engine built in October 2006 so it is way too early for either of those. I think someone has just been having fun with the parts bin.
After a bit of sleuthing and an educated guess on the VIN, I think this is the factory build spec for the car and it isn't an XKR:
Hi all,
Ok so here's the update:
Although my brother-in-law was told it is an XKR it is not ops: ,so he was a bit disappointed with that .
He went to see the car for himself yesterday.
So it's just a 2007 XK 4.2 with a bonnet from an XKR and my guess is someone has put an S next to the XK.
The car has had two previous owners and only covered 50.000 miles.
The supplementary restraint system fault has been recified by Jaguar so that's all sorted.
It came up for sale because the elderly owner had passed away and his wife kept the car for a while but now wanted to sell it:
The car had been involed in an accident (I will post more info on that when I've spoken to my bother-in-law).
I still haven't got any more photo's yet but as soon as I get them I will post them on here for you to see.
My brother-in-law still bought the car, paid £5000 for it which is pretty good for one of these and picks it up today .
I haven't seen the car myself yet but as soon as it's in his garage I will pop over and have a look.
Thanks to you all for your amazing knowledge of these cars.
Much appreciated.
As always take care and enjoy your cars.
Andy
So the whole front bumper/clip is from the 5.0L car. I agree that is looks like it has the X60 package on the rear exhaust, rear bumper, and side skirts. The reason I've seen for 4.2 cars having the front end of a 5.0 has always been an accident. The front panel gaps look off to me as well.
Yep, its a complete mash up... 2007 XK with an XKR hood, XK60 rear end / exhuast and a 2010-11 front bumper... But for that price drive and enjoy it !!!

Exactly. Lucky it doesn’t have a salvage/ rebuilt title or whatever the equivalent is over there for that price. It’s always nice to have a fun car that you aren’t frightened to take outside. 🙂
