2007 XK Rattle and Chirp
I’m about to bring in my 2007 XK for the yearly service and I had two other things I wanted them to look at while I was there. I wanted to post here to get an idea before I take it in.
1) There is a metallic chatter coming from what sounds like the center console/transmission tunnel. It started when I hard accelerated on the on-ramp one day. It’s usually noticeable at high way speeds and sounds like a loose piece of metal rattling against another piece of metal. Any ideas? FYI, I have the catalytic converter bands installed. My first thought was they had loosened up and at highway speeds they rattle against the cat, but that’s just a wild guess.
2) On colder mornings when I start the car there is almost a “bird chirp” sound coming from what sounds like the passenger’s side dash (the wife thought it could be front the center console also). It’s most noticeable when I brake hard or take a corner hard. I’ve heard one or two post say it’s a belt, but it’s so noticeable inside the cabin I’d be surprised if it’s a belt.
Anyone else have the same issues?

No help on item 1.
Item 2 is probably the blower motor (located in front and above your passengers knees. Mine would chirp on a left hand turns. Luckily I could replicate it at will for the service manager, so they replaced it and things are all quite now!

If anyone is interested to know the outcome:
The rattle came from a piece of road debris hitting the heat shield around the exhaust and pushing it against the bottom of the cabin causing it to vibrate at high speeds. The chirp was exactly what "CleverName" said, the blower motor bearing. I'll replace that on my own at a later time.
