Maybe after all y'all get this installed and working perfectly and it's been seasoned for a year or so with no major fails, THEN I may consider getting one.

Then go to WiFi in phone settings and look for the android WiFi connection and once connected to that, CarPlay will appear. The android tablet is slower to react than your iPhone, so be patient and give it a minute...I have found that once this connection is established, it should happen automatically each time you start the car, but it takes a couple of minutes. If you are having trouble with Bluetooth connection swipe down from the top of your screen and there should be an option to reboot...hope this helps...

When I installed Cambo’s CarPlay kit, I connected an extension to the usb connection and ran it to the console next to the connections already there. Wireless is nice, but the quickest, most reliable connection is via usb. You need to remove the trim piece around the shifter, then the veneer piece. There are two torx screws on the left side (for left hand drive cars) that will release the trim on the side of the console. Run the usb cable back, pop out the existing usb/iPod connector. I used a dremel to make a slot for the CarPlay usb next to the OEM controls...

Yes Luke. I would like to see what you did here please so a pic would be great. As I have one of the humongous iPhones, it won't fit in the cubby. I like the idea of moving the cup holders into the cubby and using the open space for the phone. Though I think I want the option to go wireless for shorter trips and wired for longer drives.
arenaej, I haven't used CarPlay previously. Is choosing wired or wireless a multi step process each time you use it?

I have a unique perspective here, as I have CarPlay on my XK via Cambo’s kit as well as on an android radio in my VW Tiguan. Both have wireless CarPlay and a USB connection. In my XK the CarPlay starts on my phone as soon as I open the door so by the time I start the car, choose navigation on the screen and hit the hidden button, the CarPlay is working. It’s never failed to connect and stay connected. I use the usb connection when my phone needs to charge. On my android radio it takes longer for the wireless to connect. The Bluetooth needs to connect and then the WiFi connection before CarPlay starts. Some days it’s pretty quick, other days it just won’t connect and I have to use usb. USB is reliable, works every time and charges the phone...

Connected speakers today and could use the OEM connector in the car, happy I didn't need to cut it off. I used this tool and these thingies. 😊

Pressed the tip with a flat plier so it fitted the OEM connector.

Default Omg, the sound!

I have the base sound system and have always disliked the sound. Friends and even my wife agrees that it is horrible, especially on a $80.000 car! 😊

The sound with the android unit is amazing, the improvement is enormous!
So far I'm VERY VERY happy with it. 😃

peterv8 great news! Can you close the gap for us and walk back through the entire speaker setup process. You went from noting you had the base audio and waiting to hear from the factory.... to it's done. I have premium audio but others may not. Did you have to pull wires or switch wires that hang off the power source? I thought the OEM connector wasn't a fit but maybe misremembering. Thank you!

No pulled or cut wires. The speaker wires out of the unit I googled what what colour code is pos/neg. I then connected two speakers and used balance and front/back in the unit to figure out which wires go to which speaker.😊 Factory hasn't been helpful at all, I have opened a dispute as they are so damn lazy and don't answer in days or don't answer on what you ask! I expect good customer service when you buy something for $860!

Peter -

I've notice an "uptick" in sound quality myself, but wondered if it wasn't more perceived than real. Like others ITT (cough, cough, Sean, cough), I don't have the hearing I used to in my younger days. To be fair, that's self inflicted (70's rock & roll, pistols and shotguns from shooting/hunting for years) and many of the high notes are simply not "there" for me anymore. But having the option to select different pre-set audio outputs (rock, hall, standard, etc.) along with the option of using the "equalizer" for a more tailored approach is nice. When I want it to thunder ... it thunders!

Just an EQ in the stock stereo would help the sound. It's a good thing the replacement has one.

Funny thing, I wanted the auto folding mirrors when locking but I didn't have that option in the settings of the OEM unit but when I now lock the car the mirrors fold!

It's my signal to myself that yes indeed - the doors are locked.

I for one would like a report back from the guys that have had the Anavie unit installed and in fairly regular use for at lest two weeks as to your satisfaction with the unit and the way it works. As an example, is it responsive quickly or is there an unreasonable time lag when changing functions and or stations when using it as an am/fm radio? How about changing discs or cuts on a CD? What about the other functions? And, I guess, if you would do it all over again? Thanks in advance.

To expand on the above, how about a good video of capabilities and options?

The CD player goes away with the old head unit. The new replacement is an integrated TSD with streaming audio only through either a mobile device or USB storage.
