Hello all!

I am considering purchasing a 2009 XKR convertible and I am wondering if this model/year has a good/decent reliability history and also if there are any worthy after-market warranty’s available for it? It has less than 34,000 miles on it and is in great condition (although there was some rich mixture coming out of the exhaust briefly when my other half gunned it in front of me). It is a Jaguar certified car and has some of the warranty left on it but only for a month or two. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Our site is full of praise for this series XK/XKR. In general, buying extendeds prove to be on the loosing side of the bet thanks to our amazing reliability. I myself tossed money into an extended, only to hardly use it.

I've owned my 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible over 4 years and I consider it to be very reliable. Other than normal wear items (tires/alignment, brake pads, oil/filter changes), the only repair was 1 catalytic converter that went bad and was replaced under warranty. Would I buy it again? Absolutely.
