Default For a 2010 XK Portfolio..headlight warning light

I have the warning light coming on regularly for the Adaptive Headlight problem. While the slapping of the headlight works, the light is coming on more frequently...so is there a permanent solution other than the very expensive headlight unit replacement? Thanks.

First two things to rule out are low battery voltage and bad earth connections, especially those behind the front wheel arch liners.
The level sensors on the suspension arms can also fail (seen it on other cars but I don't remember any mention on XKs) but are usually fairly cheap and easy to replace.

Another good question. I am dreading the time when I need to replace those.
Perhaps a good cleaning and lubrication is in order?? I've not ever done that. Has anyone else?

Hi all

i have the same issue in my 2011 XK with only 15k mls and it’s getting worse (lhs headlight pointing down).

Will certainly check the earth behind the wheel arches when swapping tires in spring. Will then also apply some wd40 to the wheel position sensors.

Dealer is suggesting new headlight or new leveling module (located in A pilar).

There are several good threads about it.
Read the one by Ranchero.

I dont have my lights on auto. Which means they wont needlessly come on in the garage in the daytime and thus probably half the mechanical wear.

But Ranchero is a star! I'm not. Like you, the auto setting is not my preference either.
