Default 2010 XK X150 Instrument Cluster Jittery Needles and flickering speedo needle light

Hi All, My first post on here after finding the other Jaguar forums a bit quiet / unhelpful! Not like the Range Rover one where there's hoards of people to help. My dad has got a 2010 X150 5.0. The instrument cluster works fine (it's the newer type with the white backlights), except both the speedometer needle and rev needle are a bit jittery (I.e doing 50mph and the needle will bounce around between 49mph and 51mph), and just on the speedometer needle, the light tends to flicker. I've read it's a pain in the backside to swap the clusters with another, but assume these are common problems and it just needs a repair? Gary

Could be in need of a new cluster via the main dealer, could be a faulty harness connector or earth. There's not much in the way of any help with repairing these unless you consider yourself adept at troubleshooting electronic components.

I had this and so did a chap in New Zealand. He had been quoted $4000 for a new unit. We both reconditioned (and in my case eventually replaced) the battery and it went away. Not had an issue since. I went for a battery about 15 percent above the original's capacity and maximum performance. The best home reconditioners are the Ctek ones.
Whilst this is not a certain fix, its far cheaper than an instrument pack. Jaguar consider the units sealed and do not repair them. BBA Reman in the uk do instrument cluster pack repairs, but as they blew up my X100 pack for £90 plus vat when there was nothing wrong with it (as it turned out), I find them hard to recommend.
