Default 2010 xk8 top inoperable

2010 Xk8 top won't operate at all now after new top [canvas] installed .at first it would work then it kept saying 'hood not latched' now nothing at all happens when you try to start from either position. up or down. And now the rear quarter glass is in the down position.

Welcome to the forum limoboy55,

I've moved your question from XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III to XK/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

I was in the same position as you earlier this month... quarter window down, and no way to close it ! Top wouldn't operate and had to manually close it up.... still though the quarter windows have no override to raise them - so your stuck regardless.

Ended up the hydraulic lift cylinder went bad. You might want to check the pump in the trunk and see if the level is below the markings.

Hopefully it's a simple fix for you - check the fuses while at it.

No such thing as a 2010 XK8. The last year for the XK8 was 2006 in the US. 2005 in the UK.
So, do you have a 2010 XK, a 2010 XKR, a 2000 XK8 or a 2001 XK8?

To actually be of HELP, I offer this:
Try resetting your front windows using the proper Reset procedure.
Also make sure your luggage separator in the boot is installed correctly.
You could also try holding the CLOSE button for well over a minute, that sometimes works.
If still nothing, do the Manual Top Reset procedure, it's in the manual. It's also a PITA.

If all else fails contact Steve klonsky at either White XKR on this forum or at theJaguarwrangler.com. He is the inventor of the remote top control add on, is very knowledgeable at XK and XK8 convertible tops and an extremely nice person. You can pm him or start by typing in the search box at the top right corner of this page convertible top issues or something similar and you will find multiple threads dealing with top issues. Finally good luck.
