Default 2013 XKR Ceramic pads

After almost exactly a year of searching, I found Ceramic brake pads, front and rear, for my 2013 XKR. These are only for the ATE brakes, not the Alcons. I tried looking for Akebono and Centric, but no luck - only rears were ever listed. I found these at Autozone, TRW TPC1448 and 1449. These are replacements for Jaguar part numbers C2D3801 front and C2D3792 rear.
I have always replaced factory pads on my cars with ceramic for the low dusting. To notice any changes in performance would probably require instrumented testing. I've never had a braking issue with them and they are for all intents and purposes, dust free. Easy on rotors as well.
I don't know that these TRW pads will equal the Akebonos and Centrics until I've put some miles on the car.

As an interested party why would you change the pads with only 11K miles on them. Also what did the wear looked like compared to the new pads. Just curious.

Just 2 words, jagtoes. Brake dust. I got tired of the wheels looking like I'd driven through a coal mine after drives and having to continually clean them.
The used front pads are still 10.6mm and the rears 6.7mm. Still fine, just too much dust.

OK thanks , I don't seem to have the same issue but then again I run the car through the touch-less car wash once a week and they stay pretty clean.

Try EBC Brakes yellow compound, I loved those until i switched to big brakes. No dust or noise.

Their other compounds are good as well, but remember you are stopping a 500HP 4k LBS vehicle, and they are tough on pads. I'd easily go through a set of stock pads during 1-2 track days.

I changed my pads to ceramic immediately upon purchasing my car which had 5,000 miles at the time. I was able to go with Akebono on rears and Centric on fronts. I was told that mixing ceramics is not a problem and has not been one for me. I have always used Akebonos on my previous cars and with the combo I chose the car has almost no dust and stops great! Don't know anything about the pads you chose but I'm sure they should work out ok. You can always go for the Akebonos for your rears if need be.

I have OEM pads which now have 16K miles on them. I got the car with 6K miles on it and removed , cleaned and polished my wheels. Over the past 10K miles I have had very little brake dust and what is there just dusts off or comes off in the car wash. When the time comes to replace I'll do ceramics but until then I don't have to much of a problem. I had put Akebono's on my kids Audi A4 because the OEM's were the worse brake dust producers I have ever seen.

Jagtoes...I'm sure our cars a quite similar....however when I got my 2010 XK almost 3 years ago with 5,000 miles on it, after washing it thoroughly, and then driving less than a mile it would produce brake dust on the wheels that was already noticeable. Much further it was a disaster! I couldn't deal with the mess as it was getting on my car's fender's and body as well. Ceramics are the way to go for me for any European car I might purchase in the future. I have never been disappointed without the brake dust!

I don't doubt that they dust but I guess it depends on use and miles. As I mentioned I put a set on my kids Audi and they were great. As for my Jag here is a picture of my front wheel after about 800 miles which we did in a week visiting friends. After the car wash they looked brand new again. If you look you can see where I touched the rim to show the dirt.

New to 2011 XKR. Do you have the 6 piston calipers on front and 4 piston on back ?

Going to change mine in off season to EBC red; dust covers the wheels and lower fenders quickly with OEM on car now.

Changed my discs front and rear just over a month now, fitted brembo pads. Mine been dished wheels they can hold dust, but the brembo pads don't seem to throw off much just. Happy with them.

Luv2fly.....I agree with your decision for the exact same reason... Horrible dust! I changed mine almost immediately after purchasing my car 2 years ago, removing the OEMs for Centrics (front) and Akebonos (rear). Stops as well and almost no dust and no noise at all. You made the right decision. Good luck and enjoy. PS... Just noticed that I have posted this very response more than once or twice. Sorry. I guess, I'm getting older and I'm starting to repeat myself. I do mean well. I guess I need to get a life! lol

OK I guess I need to calibrate what you folks think is excessive brake dust vs. what I think is OK. I have used ceramic pads before on a few cars and will most likely go that route when I need to change but as of now I don't think I have a big brake dust issue . I just went out and took the picture below . I posted last week I did a 500 mile trip visiting friend and driving mostly on interstate highways. Since then I put on another 50 miles and will wash the car today or tomorrow. From 5 feet away the wheels still look pretty clean but you be the judge. By the way my kids Audi A4 would turn the wheels black in a few days.

I need to change all my brake pads. (80% wear).

The dealer quoted me about 1000 USD for pads.
The strange part is the front pads are 5x cheaper than the rear ones!

Do you have links for Ceramic Pads? (European supplier would be great).

Thank you!

Just had my Redstuff pads fitted today, I paid about £140 all in for fronts and backs, the website says they deliver outside Europe.
