I'd be all over Jaguar on this pushing for a replacement car if this is under their warranty. Am high and settle for something reasonable. Who knows what is next on that car? What else got damaged?

I don't have rattles either, but a loose rear end is worse than saggy *****!!
Try the F-Type damper for the rear as they have better rebound control, or just move to coil overs like I did. The stock rear suspension lowered is horrible and near dangerous over 100MPH. I have to agree for a 500+ HP car they sure left a lot out information as far as gauges. My car is still tight and hasn't had any major issue(knock on wood) but its also not a Porsche GT3 but I was after a comfortable fast GT car, and the choices for me were Bentley Continental Speed GT, or a Ferrari 599, XKR... The other two are maintenance nightmares and a hell of a lot more expensive

I'm using the Kiwi2 wifi with my iPhone for OBDII data. It also records and plays back data which is great for the track.

Decking the heads means they put them on a machine that makes the head seating area flat again, sort of like a belt sander. Now if the heads are really bad then junked. Resurfacing is just making the head surface correct for gasket mating.

I see the F-Type has a gauge set on the info screen with at least water temperature. Makes you wonder why they didn't include one fro the XK.

This is a call to action. We need to know what exactly is going wrong with these water pumps and they need to be replaced properly with better mechanical equipment.

Is it that the mechanical pump is failing or is the hose disconnecting or getting a whole in it? What is the exact problem?? Is this a model specific problem??? Is there a JTB for this problem???? .....I think I have heard of alot of hose problems in 2010...I thought one was a water occurring in the passenger side footwell.

My concern with the failing water pumps is that the replacement has not been updated.

Exactly. That is what I seem to remember being stated by PLUMS here.

This is exactly why I do not want to drop more than 3/4 to maybe 1" at the rear, or none at all. I would speculate that with the H&R springs dropping close to 2" you basically reduced your damper travel to next to nothing. If you hit a road imperfection at 130 MPH, you bottom the dampers and your effective spring rates go through the roof to infinity, making the car bounce wildly, nearly impossible to control. You'd be much better off doing 130 MPH with your stock XKR suspension!

That's a good idea. I am going to write a letter to Jaguar explaining what happened and the backlash thereof. If I do ask for a replacement car, I wouldn't settle for anything less than what I already have. I would also demand that its a select edition as well. I would be going if this car wasn't under warranty.

I agree. If there is a known issue, then why doesn't Jaguar address it rather than being reactive. After reading the posts here, I'm going to be skittish about the car now. This was easily preventable, especially since they sold the car as a select edition. I'm going to send Jaguar a nice letter and mention this forum in it....to get things started.

So we are to drive our car, knowing that at some point the water pump is going to fail, then contend with the damage afterwards? That doesn't seem feasible, logical or even customer service friendly. These are supposedly high end cars.....I wouldn't call that high end service. I really doubt if BMW or MB would operate like that.

The standard H&R kit drops the car 1.3 inches, max. From what my shop has measured, I got maybe 1.25 up front and 1.2 in the back. Not 2 inches, anywhere.

And I haven't taken the car to 130 and gone over bumps of any size. On public roads or tracks.

What is so disheartening, is not if the water pump will be failing but when. To make matters worse..... no warning and then Surprise! Not acceptable.

This is more than an inconvenience not to mention somewhat stressful waiting for the "event"... and it affects the integrity of the most expensive part of the car...the engine!

Would it be best to request new heads? I'm not sure how that works.

That is what I would like to know for sure also.

I am not sure if it is still the case with the 5.0, but 4.0 and 4.2 V8s had the coolant sensor located near the top of the engine. If you had a major loss of coolant, such as from a burst hose or a hose popping off, the sensor would no longer be immersed in coolant and there would be NO overheat warning! Your only warning would be a low coolant message.

This is why it is critically important on these cars to pull over and see just HOW LOW your coolant really is immediately as soon as it is safe to stop when you get a low coolant warning. If there is no coolant at all in the overflow tank, immediately shut off the engine.

Chris

My advice would be to just let Jaguar take care of the car under warranty without making any "demands". They will probably play nice and fix it for you fine. If you were to stick to "demands" and hold out for new this or that, they may pull the history files from your car and point out that you drove 40 - 50 miles with on-off low coolant warnings, which could effect the warranty coverage.

Better fly low, IMO.
