Default 6-6.5" door speakers. Who's done it?

hi all. i'm about to order all new speakers for my 2007 xkr, but I've heard that some have fit 6-6.5" ones instead of the factor 5.25" speakers. if this is the case, can anyone let me me know what was required. if it's a big pain in the *** or requires making spacers or anything like that, i'm not interested. if it's pretty easy for my installer and he's not going to charge me a ton more to fit the larger speaker, i'm all about it. thanks in advance.

Have you tried other jag models with the same stereo on this forum? I would be very interested in results if someone has accomplished.

Hi

I fitted new speakers, Bit Ten and power amplifier to my XK 2010 last year. I fitted 6.5" into the front doors plus separate tweeters. 6.5" require custom spacers. I made my own.

Hi

Yes easy to make from wood. I bought some round sections from ebay and then routed out the inside to match the Audison 6.5" speakers.

My first effort left too much wood on the outside of the speakers despite a decent radius. They fouled when the door moulding was offered up. My second effort took the excess wood around the speakers to the minimum and then they fitted fine.

I am sure that a car audio place would make a pair in less than 30 minutes as their learning curve would be a lot shorter than mine.

I hope all goes well for you. The upgrade has made a huge difference to the sound quality in my XK.
