Default After-market wheels available from Complete Custom Wheel

I use CCW wheels on my Supra and thought I'd check with them to see if they had the proper fitment for the XK/XKR. It turns out they do, and John's reply was this...

"have done some in the past, 19x8.5-9 front and 19x10-10.5 rear 245 40 front and 275 -285 35 19 rears. Offset on the car is fairly low and that means the wheels can have a fair amount of dish/lip to them. Can do it in the sp series as well as the c series like the c140 and c2k. Cost will be in $2800-3100 a set range depending on the finish."

"18's are actually easier to make if you were wanting something hardcore for the track. The corsair series in 18" will clear 15" brakes, as we build them for the 997gt3 porsche and the zr1 corvette."

"18x10 c10 wheels will come in at 21-22 lbs"

Check out the SP, C140 and C2K series here...

Edit: The CCW site link has been removed due to a virus.

Tire selection affects the wheels you buy. The '07-12 XK/XKR's run tires that are 26.8-27" o.d. for 20's and 26.6-26.7" for 19's. It's a good idea to keep close to these overall diameters in order to keep the speedo accurate and possibly the electronics and wheel sensor functions. It may actually be possible to change diameters significantly, but for discussion purposes I've listed the tires that fit within the factory diameters +/- 0.5".
Note for reference that the factory sizes for 2010+ XKR are either 255/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear, or 245/40/19 f and 275/35/19 r, with the XKR-S upsizing the rears to 295/30/20 r.

18":
245 and 255/45/18
275 and 285/40/18

19":
245 and 255/40/19
275 and 285/35/19

20":
245,255,265,275/35/20
275,285,295/30/20

Good find, Bruce. Very interested in the weights in 18" and 19" variations. Should save substantial pounds off the factory wheels.

Tire sizes and wheel weight info added to original post.

I was surprised to see the lack of wider tire widths in all wheel sizes, with the widest being 295 in 20" only. Since not all tires come in all sizes be sure to check carefully so you can get a matched set for front and rear.

For my own needs/preference, I wouldn't want to go narrower than the 285's I have now, and could have that in an 18 or 19" to get a little more side-wall flex for more grip under hard acceleration, or go the 295 in 20" only. Either way I'll buy a higher grip tire like the Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and those 285 and 295 widths are only available in 20" in that particular tire. So down-sizing to an 18 or 19" wheel isn't necessarily going to be beneficial for me. However it could be argued that going to a lighter wheel would be.

There's a terrific selection of tires available for 18 and 19" wheels for those of you who are looking for a higher side-wall for weight, cost, or durability reasons. I could probably be quite happy with a 255/40/19 f and either 285/35/19 or 285/40/18 on the rear.

Should progress this thread to cover other available 5x108 rims as well.
Here is a bit more I found digging for 18"
The Coventry Whitley (coventrywheels.com) is apparently owned by TSW.
18"x8.5 and 18x95 are 28lbs and 30lbs respectively. Tad on the heavy side for an 18" IMHO.
Priced right at $240 each

They (Coventry) at least chart the size/offsets for varying diameters to give us rough starting points

Team Dynamics Racing is illusive here in US and on the web, but they have the Pro Race 1.2 in 8" and 9" widths at 19.8 and 24.2lbs respectively. About $150 each if you can find a place to order them from... (Not sure about these folks)

OZ Racing made the Supeleggera in 18" for the XK, but discontinued them in 2010.

You win my internets for the day, Bruce. Great info.

I like dish myself... and prefer it to lip. Now to find a nice, clean 7 spoke with dish.

As for 18"... tires are cheaper in smaller diameters usually. If you can't have PS2s, what about some nice Goodyear Eagles in those sizes? I'm with you in not going any narrower -- the HP overwhelms the 285s that are on there already, and that doesn't need to be exacerbated. I loved Goodyears GSD3s when they were out. I think they were replaced with Eagle Assymetrics if I remember right.

I've been looking at tires for a while now, but won't be able to determine my own needs until I get it on my home track next month. I need to try it this time in Trac DSC mode to see if it was rear grip that was lacking, or an over eager traction control putting the brakes on my fun

It kicked in only on tight corners where the auto probably grabbed 2nd gear as I started to roll on the throttle, overwhelming the tires with mmmassive torque. I might need to re-train my right foot for the ultra responsive throttle, or maybe try the paddle shifters for a higher gear for those corner exits. Maybe slower in and fast out...need more seat time to experiment.

I actually suspect that tire grip may not be all that bad because it never got loose on a couple of corners where I late braked and then trail-braked very aggressively without any problem. I think the strong engine torque would easily roast even a 315 so I'll need to largely deal with rear grip limits in other ways.

Was CCWs once called Perner Wheels? They are pretty nice wheels for the money. I remember thinking of getting the 505a when I had my corvette but my buddy with the Viper got them and so I decided to go with Mallett wheels instead. Here was my buddy's Viper with the CCWs 505a before he sold it awhile back. They are nice wheels:

John Perner is the owner of CCW, so I suspect you're right. He definitely knows his stuff, and makes wheels for the good stuff, and they look awesome like the ones on that Viper. It's been years since I've priced out wheels, and paid $2500 if I recall for these back in 2004 which was very reasonable compaired to similar quality from others. I think they're all forged which makes them a lot lighter, stronger and more expensive than a cast wheel.

BTW...Bruce have you heard of Chris Threadgill at Sound Performance or a guy name Marcus Frost? I think Marcus was big into Supras at one time and of course SP is big into big HP Supras.

John makes a great wheel. I've had the 3 piece and the 1 piece forged on 2 different NSX's. I'm wondering if I want a full polish look on a black XKR however. Silver always makes a black car's paint look deeper and more flawless. Chrome or polish competes with the cars finish and exposes when it isn't perfect.

I'm wondering about a Silver concave with polished lip. Something like these:

BMW M6 – D2FORGED CV1 | D2FORGED Wheels Gallery

BMW M6 – 20″ D2FORGED VS4 Wheels | D2FORGED Wheels Gallery

You mentioned concaved....thought I'd throw one of my favorite concave wheel by DPE. I was seriously considering these last year for my XKR but went another route.

Here is a website where there are some good selection of higher end wheels. I found my XKR through this website although I ordered them locally at my tire shop. I also just ordered my Range Rover wheels in which I found them first through this website.

Thanks! For reference they're CCW Classics 3 pc polished 18X10 f with 285/30/18 and 17x11.5 r with 315/35/17. An XKR sitting on that much rubber would be an awesome sight to behold. I've got them sitting next to the Jag right now waiting for me to jack it up and take a look around the wheel wells!

Chris and the guys at SP are well known and respected in the drag racing circles of the Supra community. I was on the road racing side of things where they weren't really involved so I never had contact with them.

I've never considered that nuance, but I do know the black on polished is a real attention *****! I've always liked silver with polished lips, and those concave wheels look great.

As an aside, those cars all have a custom street look that's heavy on bling, and largely defined by the large wheels. It would be nice to see a selection of wheels on an XK/XKR for others to help choose the look or function they're after. Even an 18" might look the business if it had enough tire on it.

Gotcha.....I still remember years back when Chris had his Lexus SC300 fitted with a Supra engine with of course the bigger single turbo. That thing was quick! My buddy actually bumped into him last summer and told him I wanted to dyno my Jag at his shop. He said to call him and we'll go at night when the shop is closed to dyno as he has the keys but I never came around to calling him. I might call him this summer....just to see how strong or weak my car is.

FYI, My Kasperski Security alerts to a trojan (HEUR.trojan.Script.generic) when trying to view wheels on this site. May be a faults positive.

I have Kasperski as well but got no such alert. Just checked it and it says I'm protected and all is good. My computer has seemed a little slower today, but I'm assuming Kasperski has in fact protected the computer.

Anyone else have an issue?

I'm on Kasperski Internet Security 2011, on this laptop...
I'll check my desktop later which is K.I.S. 2012

A quick search shows several cases where it was found to be a faults alert (hence the "generic" in the name), so maybe that is all it is... Just had to speak up and keep everyone on their toes. (After all we all have our AV software current and our important data backed up, right?)
