Default Another Extended Warranty Thread

I have talked to three different dealerships and have got three different answers to my extended warranty question.

The two Dallas dealerships told me that I either didn't qualify for the Jaguar extended warranty or that Jaguar didn't actually have an extended warranty of their own.

The California dealership told me that I could get the Jaguar R Extened warranty and gave me prices.

So my three choices are (in order of price, Jag being the most expensive):

Jaguar R extended warranty
TSP Total Service Protection
Easy Care

Anyone have experience using any of this programs?

Thanks

Default Costco

Check them out in your state and see if they offer it. We just bought it for our 2007 XK. 60,000 additional miles, $100 deductible per repair and it was only $2400. It's backed by Costco so I'm confident that is backed.

This sounded like a good plan so I contacted Costco. Unfortunately it is not yet offered in my state (Virginia) but will be by the end of 2011. I may switch to Costco from my current extended warranty plan with Fidelity, as they seem to make it difficult to actually speak to a claims rep when my service folks call (i.e. place them on hold for 20+ minutes, etc.).

Thanks for the info!

I spoke with Costco and unfortunately not available in California yet. What was interesting was that you can put the warranty in place after the factory warranty expires. Not sure if they charge a "premium" for that or not. He said they should be in all states by end of year.

Was quoted $2,804 for a 2008 XK with 27K miles. Sounds a little more expensive than the above quote. Not sure why. The rep said the prices shouldn't vary much by state, although that may be the difference.

As a long time Corvette owner and charter member of the Corvette Forum, the extended warranty of choice is a GMPP, so that's what I bought for my 2007 Corvette Z06 - paid $1290 for a 48m/48K ZERO GMPP. So when I called the dealer I bought it from to get a cancellation form (just traded my Z in for a 2008 XK) I mentioned how it would be nice if I could get a GMPP on a Jaguar. Turns out I can. He sent me his quotes. I'm looking at the 48 month, 40K miles $50 deductable GMPP for $2495. Several Chevrolet dealers are Corvette Forum sponsors and will sell the GMPP at COST.

All the others I don't know or trust. So I'm going with that.

Interesting. That might be another option.

I'd still think that it would be preferable to get an extended warranty through Jag. Maybe it doesn't make any difference but I'd think that the approval/reimbursement process would be more efficient with fewer hassles than trying to get a GM contract guy to agree with your Jaguar service manager. (Do they even speak the same language? ) Seems like a problem waiting to happen. Maybe not?

I agree that it would be nice if a forum dealer or two would offer to cut us a deal. There's got to be some wiggle room in the margin of a product like that. Anyone? Bueller?

The difference is the mileage. I actually misstated how much I paid. It was $1800. Anything under 25,000 miles was that price, anything over jumped in price.
