Does anyone know of a shop that does the stretching/gluing/stapling in the South Florida area (Boynton Beach, Delray, Boca or nearby)? My dash is not bad, but I would like to get it repaired before it gets worse.

Well, looking at these pictures scared me into buying the windshield sun shield off eBay. $47 hopefully well spent but it's been sitting in South Carolina the past couple days thank you USPS...

Well my dash is too far gone. When attempting to pull it back into place the stitching ripped :/

Peel it further and restitch it using the original holes. Takes some time but turns out well from my experience with old headliners.

I'm going to bring it to my upholster and see what he says. The stitching is super fine tight thread, that would be a challenge. I'm not giving in to a $2500 dash cover though!

If all else fails maybe I can get my upholster to make me a template with a upgraded folder over for the dash edge and go into business selling these over priced cow skins ..

Couldn't the stitching color be changed with a little fabric dye?

Good point.

Here you go, and no affiliation etc, but it looks nice in the pictures.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-2014-J...E/273322792814

Looks pretty good in the pics, right click and open in a new window for larger size.

Hope that helps,

Dave

Before I had my dash removed, restretched, and reglued and stapled, before I could see how easily it could be repaired, I had contracted an auto upholstery shop in my area to do a complete reupholster of the dash including the leather for $1300.00. That's in the heart of Los Angeles. You should be able to find a shop to do it for no more than that, maybe less. You may have to have the dash removed for them, but maybe not if the windshield is removed. And even if the stitching came apart, it can be hand stitched, in place, as another forum member showed when he changed the color of his stitching by himself. I don't remember the name of the post, but I'm sure it can be found.

A little further North, but try calling Steve Secrist at Palm Park Auto Upholstery in West Palm Beach, 561-832-8281. He did my headliner a while back and did a great job for a lot less than the dealer wanted.

Yep it was pretty cool. The only thing is that it was for show and not strength so it can't be done in the application on this post. In order to restitch you need to remove the skin and remove a restitch the whole dash.

Why market a dash (as if you wont have issues)
Why not market something like a dash-enhancement cream.
If it works for male-enhancement, its bound to work for dash leather.
I understand there is a risk of it making the application hand bigger than the other.
