Antenna motor replacement
I've goggled this. All posts are mast replacement (not motor replace). Dealer ran the car thru a car wash before I picked it up. Snapped the antenna off. No idea what they did after (pulled w/o motor on, snapped teeth?) but I can't do the simple "slide it out" mast replace. Motor still works. With it on, tugged gently, twisted, pulled aggressively. Mast head will not slid out. I have 1/2" left. Suggests appreciated.
I can simply cut the last section off carefully. Put the tip of the old mast into the housing. Reinstall and it's done. I want the antenna to always be down anyway.
I'll replace motor if I sell the car (not likely anytime soon). Hydraulic pump can be removed w/o pulling trunk panels. Does removing it mean disconnecting lines? Suggests appreciated.

@CA Jag you need to remove the grommet surrounding the mast. It's a hard rubber that's painted the same color as the body. Use painters tape to protect the car paint and grommet paint. I removed mine by twisting and then pulling but you may need to pry it up to break it loose. The key focus is not to mar the paint. It took me about ten minutes to remove once I understood how it mounted. I used a tiny flat head screwdriver on mine. Once removed, there is a nut. You can remove it with a large needle nose pliers. Again, be careful not to slip with the tools and mar the paint. Once the nut is off, pull the mast.
If you're uncomfortable doing it, take the car into a body shop. This can't be new to them. They will charge you an hour labor (minimum charge) to remove the grommet and probably another hour to replace it.

Small dealer hadn't listed the car and didn't know what it was worth. Other than antenna, perfect 2 owner CA car w/ 30k. Great dealer (or high quality indy) service. Gave me a verbal of 20k (and "not any lower"). I was there the next day. He'd posted the car at 25 and was getting calls. I was quite surprised that he was willing to honor the 20 verbal. Good used car dealers do exist. He even let me drive the car 20 miles to get a PPI from a good indy. Given the price, he asked that I take care of the repair. I agreed.

You don't have a lot of mast left to work with
Some years ago I replaced the power antenna on my 2001 XJ8 (RIP) and had a similar problem -- the grounding/retaining sleeve had rusted to the mast. I cut the mast about an inch up, inserted the largest drill bit that would fit into the mast, then clamped a pair of vise grips onto the outside of the mast to hold it to the drill bit. I then whacked the vise grips a few times with a hammer until the mast popped out.
Good luck!

Follow the instructions on pg 2810 in the workshop manual. Remove the broken mast (and cable) from the motor and replace. Its a generic size and most replacements will do.
