Default Ashtray 07XK

I just bought an 07 Xk Coupe. I've had it for 24 hours and driven it 200 miles from the dealer to home. My only issues so far are tire roar and an ashtray that will not stay open.

I know how to deal with tire roar but shouldn't there be a latch mechanism to hold the ashtray open?

Isn't this great that my only problem is a wonky ashtray?

I had the same problem when I bought my '07 XK. When you push the cover back it is supposed to latch, then a slight push will unlatch to close it. The dealer repaired it under the warranty.

Thank you gentleman,

It is my understanding that the warranty on 07 XKs is 4 years from "in service date" or 50,000 miles whichever occurs first. Is that correct?

You're correct on the warranty. Hopefully you have a good dealer which will take care of things to get your business. My closest one, on the other hand, is full of a bunch of buttholes. They only care to fix what they deem as warranty. I know there are some great ones out there, I have read their feedback on here.
+1 on the pics

Yeah I did it. My "bucket list" is now clear which, come to think of it, makes me nervous as hell. As soon as "baby snooks" gets over her snit I'll have to reconstitute it.

See if this linked document might shed some light on the problem.

Default Covered under Select Edition Warranty

Anyone know if the ashtray fix is covered under the select edition warranty.... As in, they've actually had the repair done & not had to pay?

Thanks in advance...

Make sure you play with it. Mine kept closing also - and since I prefer using my Garmin GPS rather than the built-in unit, I was using that ash tray every time I got in the car and it would not stay open. But then, after perhaps the 20th time, it did. Once again confirming my first rule of repair - when something breaks the first thing to do is nothing, because once in a while a thing will fix itself.

Congrats on the car!

Mine was repaired free under the primary warranty. I'm pretty sure it will not be covered under the select warranty. By now you are probably out of the primary. You could try talking to the dealer to see if he might do it as good will since you just bought he car.
