Attended Jaguar driving event
Jaguar held a great event in Houston this week inviting people out to drive their new 2012 models including the XKRS!
It was an official event Jaguar event Hands-on Experience with the New Jaguar 2012 Models | Welcome
First we watched a presentation on Jaguar cars, style, performance, etc. Next it was out to drive the XJ's on the road following a lead car. I drove a Suportsport and I couldn't believe the power and handling! The interior was amazing and I really enjoyed the massaging seats
Then you went between three other events taking your time and if you liked you could take a break, get a snack, and talk to Jag reps about the cars.
I went for the 0-80mph, 80-0mph run in the XKRS coupe. With an instructor, you stabbed the throttle on a straightaway and when you hit 80mph you stomped the brakes as hard as possible and they encouraged engaging the ABS. These cars sounded amazing and had crazy stopping power.
Then I drove an XFR where you tested the acceleration on a soapy mat so you can see how the driver aids work. Then through a small slalom as well where you could feel the acceleration cutting out as you did sharp turns to avoid the cones.
Next was the leisurely driving in any of the cars as much as you wanted driving over speedbumps, simulated pot holes and simulated expansion joints. All drove nice but the XJL had serious roof pops going on
Then on to the autocross course with an F1 driver or their professional Jag race driver. You strapped into an XKRS coupe and off you went four laps around the autocross. Great fun and I had a decent lap time as well.
Once finished you were given a photo opp with an XKRS convertible and everyone received a gift bag with a Jaguar cap and some brochures.
All in all it was a great way to spend a few hours on a nice Sunday morning!
It was great climbing back into my XKR knowing that it's still an amazing car after being almost fours years old now.

They stated that this was the second time Jag has ever held such an event, with the first being in Dallas the week prior...I would have to assume that this is something they will be taking to other cities throughout the year. Not sure why they chose TX as their first market I would've expected CA to be their first choice.

Aside from that i too attended the event in Houston & I too cant fully express how much fun i had... It's by far the most exzillerating time I've had in awhile, enough so that i inquired about attending the R performance school 1st opening it has next yr. should be fun! any other forum members pondering the thought?
here are a couple more photos taken @ the Jag drivers experience.

not much other then that it cost are around $3 grand & that's schools out for the 2011 year, so I'm waiting to be able & register for next yr. Jaguar hasn't posted official dates yet but my rep tells me it would probably be sometime around Sept the earliest. I'll keep ya'll posted on any news I hear if ya'll do the same for me. Just in case I miss any news or updates.
take it ez guys & happy holidays!
