battery charger hook up
If you mean the positive + post in the left side of the boot behind the plastic grill the answer is yes. Also see the owners manual for proper hook up.
Below is a link to the definitive thread about smartcharger installation. Note that there is a significant difference between 4.2L and 5.0L charging systems. For 4.2L models, It's OK to use either the remote battery terminals in the trunk or attach the + and - smartcharger leads directly to the corresponding battery terminals. For 5.0L models the - smartcharger lead must be connected to a chsssis ground.
Since you have a 2009 XKR, see my posts ## 161 and 224 on psges 9 and 12, respectively, in this thread. I preferred to use the remote battery terminals in the trunk, instead of connecting directly to the battery.

Thank you...I read the threads and understand. I used a Battery Tender 12V, 1.25 amp for my 1996 XJS Conv. (sold it) and that worked fine. Will that be ok on the 2009 XKR Conv. 4.2L?
My last Deltran Battery Tender was made in China and had a plastic case. It overheated and melted the plastic case. Fortunately, it didn't cause my house to burn down. Worst customer service ever. I'll never buy another Battery Tender brand product again.
I use a BatteryMIINDER Plus on my 2009 XKR (4.2SC)and a CTEK MUS4.3 on my 2013 XJ (5.0SC). They both work well, but I prefer the CTEK because it is a newer design from a highly regarded company. I recommend replacing the Battery Tender with a CTEK MUS4.3.

Been using a ‘Battery Tender Plus’ for three years with no issue, the case is all metal, and barely gets warm. Extensions are available (use a 25 foot one normally, and have a second 25 footer that I can use to extend to a car in the driveway if necessary).
