Default Faulty Low Battery Warning is a Thing?

Hi guys

Getting a low battery warning when turning car off - i had it hooked up to a battery charger overnight and still getting the same warning

The low battery warning means i get no interior lights on turn off/unlock and i can't open the electric trunk externally

The car starts fine, there is absolutely no issue with turnover

Is there an issue with a faulty battery warning?

I'm having the exact same problem! It started a few days ago... I'm trying to charge it tonight for the first time and see if it helps anything.

i really don't think it's the battery, as car starts fine

probably some kind of gremlin in the ecu or bcm - i've got the battery disconnected now and will re-connect it after a good 10 mins

hope i don't lose all my presets

The fact that it's stopping me from being able to have the trunk go up automatically is a bit of an annoyance with fully starting the car... just beeps and flashes low battery

Try to disconnect the battery and then re-connect it. You may have to set your clock and some settings again.

only settings i lost was date/time

but the auto up windows doesn't work now, i tried relearning by holding both window switches up for a few seconds but didnt work

does anyone the window reset procedure?

When you connect the battery charger / tender do not put the negative clamp directly to the battery, put it on the earth point in the middle of the boot/trunk floor, you can see the thick black cable bolted to a stud there, follow it back to the negative of the battery to be sure, if you're not sure.

The battery monitoring module gets confused if you charge directly to the negative of the battery. Because with the engine off it expects 12.6V or thereabouts, but a charger puts out a higher voltage like 13+, so the battery monitoring module resets its "minimum" to the voltage that the charger is putting out. Then when you disconnect the charger the voltage from the battery is lower, so the car will throw up low voltage warnings.

By connecting the negative of the charger to the earthing stud it's charging on the "other side" of the monitor so this resetting of the minimum voltage doesn't happen.

I think you also have to run them down, and hold the switch. But the reset procedure should be in your manual, I think.

Lance (Unhingd) has posted the procedure a number of times - try searching posts by him, with 'window' in them.

The process needs to be repeated 4-5 times before it programs itself.

It's on p. 140 of my first-edition manual. Look in the index under Windows, Reset.

1. Close the window fully.
2. Release the switch, then lift it to the close position and hold for 2 seconds.
3. Open the window fully.
4. Release the switch, then push it to the open position and hold for 2 seconds.
5. Lift and release the switch to operate the one-touch function.
6. Repeat the procedure on each window.

You should check your manual, as they could have revised the procedure.

Dave gave you the instructions for the MY14.
Here are the instructions for MY16:

WINDOW RESET
The windows will need to be reset if the battery is disconnected, becomes discharged, or the power supply is interrupted. Once the power supply is restored, reset the windows as follows:

1. Close the window fully, and release the switch.

2. Lift the switch to the close position, and hold for 2 seconds.
3. Repeat this process a total of 5 times.

Test the window, to check that one-touch operation is working correctly. Repeat the process for the remaining window

ok i got it working, my process was as follows (fyi my car was built late 2015)

- have car running
- close window (i hit the up a couple times to make sure it was fully closed)
- hold switch up fully depressed for 2 seconds
- lower window with soft depress (non-auto mode) all the way and release switch
- hold switch down fully depressed for 2 seconds

that did the trick

I have had the "low battery" problem since I picked up the car from he dealer. I am on a first name basis with "road service", no humor intended. If I leave the car for 2 days without starting it, I will find it totally dead. They have tried a number of things, all of the obvious stuff, but I am thinking that there is some kind of defect, particularly after seeing other people with the same issue on the '16 F Type R Coupe.

Anybody have this issue and the dealer fixed it how?

+1. This is my standard procedure after the car has been at the dealer or I've plugged into the OBD port myself. Disconnecting the ground (earth) lead from the battery for 10 seconds is more than enough, but you will probably need to reprogram your window "auto-up" feature (instructions in the owner's manual).

Not for insurance... I was doing some work with Velocity and needed some engine data.

Anyone have any experience with continued "low battery" after resetting the power management module? If so, what fixed it?

Thanx

I believe one member had an issue where a ground cable in the engine compartment was not properly bonded to the chassis.
