Default Benefits of solid SC torsion isolator

What are the benefits of the solid isolator over using the torsion isolator supplied in the Jaguar SC kit to replace stock torsion isolator. My car is going in for the SC torsion isolator replacement under CPO warranty. I've been waiting for a supply of SC oil which is taking forever to arrive so I can get the oil changed at the same time. Maybe I should change to the solid isolator. Is the torsion isolator supplied with the kit an upgraded version?

If yours is currently rattling/chattering then I suspect that:

1) it may have an effect on the power output
2) The replacement solid coupler won't fail*

*That said I had thought that JLR had upgraded their coupler to one that was more robust

PS: Your luck that you're having yours replaced under warranty as I have an extended warranty I paid £2600/$3100 for covering me for 3yrs that includes wear and tear, they have refused to pay for the repair work, purely as the car is still driveable and I drove it away from the diagnosing garage

Yeah, I lucked in when I bought my car last year. The Porsche dealer never knew the car had a CPO warranty on it. I found out when I was doing my pre-purchase due diligence--I never never told the dealer.

Did you replace the isolator with the solid or torsion version? Did you change the oil wen you had it done? What type of oil did you use?

I had a solid coupler put in my '10 XKR a couple of years ago and no issues so far.

Mine's not been replaced yet, but when I do the oil* and bearings will be changed along with the front pulley for a ss one and evans waterless coolant.

As all of this is costing over £1000/1200USD I'm leaving it until its in for its service in Nov, when most likely I'll have the tranny pan dropped and a fluid change...and my car will be 100% for a few years.

* most likely I'll be using the powerhouse stuff (as am in the UK) but several others have used AC DELCO

Personally I prefer the spring design for the fact it is quieter if there is wear. I've run the AC Delco oil in all 3 of my R model Jaguars as well. On the 4 and 4.2L V8s, the oil change is quite easy and really a half to one hour affair; to my understanding it is harder on the 5L (is the fill plug on the back or is the access more limited, i dont remember). I recommend every 30k to do SC oil as it really extends the life of the SC.

both the fill plug being on the back of the supercharger and limited space is an overstatement lol with the wireloom and its big bulky plastic housing, the big ugly symposer all tucked in nice and snug tothat hard plastic heat shield it's a PITA lol

Ford and GM dealers typically have the fluid on the shelf.
