Dealer knows nothing about SC oil
My car is going in for a new SC torsion isolator as soon as a bunch of replace parts arrive,to be installed as preventative maintenance while the SC is lifted off the engine. I also requested the SC oil be changed. The dealer tells me they know nothing about SC oil, never ordered it before, and it doesn't show up as a fluid in their inventory. I'm confused with so many members suggesting this be changed.
Don . Power house UK whom make the supercharged units for jaguar , Recommend changing super charged oil EVERY 5 year or 50,000 miles . The problem is the oil evaporates over time , i know this as i called the company for advice here in the UK and spoke at length to a nice chap who was very knowledgeable on this subject on the phone . But trying to get this message across to other "Enthusiasts " is another matter , most seem to Blank this service item and follow Jaguars advice IE sealed for life . As we know of the trans box sealed for death . Sorry for the long story but i for one would not be happy with a garage that knows nothing about said fluid change and would be seeking another garage to perform this work who knew how to do it . My 2 cents worth
Just seen your car is a 2014 model , I would not be overly concerned as long as your millage was not high and you treated the car well other wise then yes i peronaly would change this oil out seen as they have the supercharger off
What is the recommended oil and what is the change procedure?

And just for completeness here's the item in question that's needed:
I'm lucky as have 2 sealed bottles in the garage from 13yrs back when I had a SC'd MX-5/Miata and was lucky enough to pick some up for $5 a bottle when stateside. Unsure if it goes off and from what I've read it's refined castor oil
I am due to have mine off on my 5.0 as the original coupler is chattering, at the same time I am having:
1) Coolant changed to Evans
2) Stainless smaller upper pulley (I already have a smaller Ali one)
3) SC oil change
4) Bearings in SC changed
As the SC has to come out/in and I am supplying the oil and coolant they are charging me £1000+VAT which includes the coupler, smaller pulley, bearings and labour, which is quite reasonable IMO

But @MarkyUK , I wonder if the spec for supercharger oil has changed in 13 years. Is it 100% synthetic now? Are there high temperature additives for prolonged wear and high speed friction. I’m not convinced 13 on the shelf is necessarily a good thing. What is peculiar as I reread my response is, I only use new fluids in all the cars... and drew the correlation that any oils in the kitchen are frequently changed too as they go off in a short time... crazy, I know.
but I do agree, for 1000, I’d get it done too.

At the risk of being shot lol the powerhouse would be my first choice , But understand it might be scarce in the states and others have used the GM ACDelco with no ill affects
I think you'll find this thread helpful. See Don B's input with pics and tools.

Edit - sorry, this is for the 4.2 SC

On the 5l very limited room to say the least , on DonB s thread on the 4.2l he had a bit at the end of his ratchet extension this alone is to big i even cut one them in half using a grinder and a vice . F ound the extra long allen key to be the tool but had to chop off half of the small end to get it in it is not a job for the faint hearted as you have to get the plug back in once the unit is filled
I ordered a bottle, 150ml, of powerhouse supercharger oil. I don't know if the dealer will do the change, but I will ask them when they have the supercharger lifted if I can go in for 10 minutes to do it myself. The car only has 14k miles, but the fluid is 6-7 years old. My thinking is if I change it now with fresh new oil I'll be subjecting the bearings to much less wear.
Me i would use the recommended powerhouse product " if " it was not available the GM
Any other alternative oil apart from the AC Delco one?
I can't even find the actual oil specification for the AC Delco oil - like some sort of unicorn ****.
Checking out Eaton they use Nye 605 oil.
