Better have deep pockets for the maintenance and repairs.

No, cuz then you'd have to OWN that debacle. I'd rather have a tiny bit less power and a vastly superior car.

I'm sure it was a nice car when new.

For me personally, Mercedes after the 1990's do not click as something I'd like to buy.
There are special ones like a SLS that I would use and drive if given to me as a gift, like a SLS.
Their marketing turns me off the brand. I'd rather not be associated with it.

I'm curious...just what were all the issues that made it "plagued with problems"?

He sold it because the 06 Mercedes doesn't have Android Auto or CarPlay. The Navigation system is outdated and can't buy upgrades. The new iPhone won't pair. You have to keep it on a battery maintainer. The TPMS system is antiquated. The bushings wear out too fast and there aren't enough gauges.

Oh...wait...

I really don't take "marketing" into serious consideration when choosing a vehicle. But fair enough, each to their own.

I'm not really even familiar with the Jaguar marketing scheme at present, nor from the past 10 years or so.

I suppose that the very same applies to the X150, if taken to the dealer for maint./repairs.

Merc's can also be much less expensive for the do-it-yourself-er and the person that takes the time to research and find comparable parts for less than dealer prices.

When comparing the numbers with the XKR, I see them as much greater than a "tiny bit less power".

604 HP & 738 TQ. (And yes, the Merc. can be also be increased with bolt-ons and a tune.)

I love (read as hate) the wordy nature of the advert

I guffawed at 'a litany of engineering derived from a legacy of racing victory'

Almost had a laundry problem when I reached 'kinetic perfection'

Whoever wrote that is an ***...IM(less than H)O

To my mind looks V dated, far more so than an 06 X150, and as Alex has shown he can get a LOT of power from the 4.2SC

OK, take out the "tiny". 50 hp over the -S, and although 200 ft/lb isn't a mere pittance, just LOOK at that horrendous thing. It's ghastly.

I promise you... if you're driving that thing no one will roll down the window at the stoplight to tell you your car is a work of art.

Yes... that actually happened to me in my XKR.

Absolutely. But most old Benz's look dated. The SL is no exception.

Super bowl commercial for the E class.

Pretty much the anti-thesis of how I view a nice car.

Guess I've never gotten past it.

But I really enjoyed driving this GT. I think I'd take it over the Audi (No I am not referring to the R8!) or a Porsche (which always drive 'wierd' to me).
My only complaint probably doesn't apply to most of you: I found it 'big'. As in made for someone larger than me. I'm 'small'. The perfect size really.
