Since I've done spacers I'm considering powdercoating my wheels black and leaving the lip silver. Any good photoshoppers out there that can do the centers matte black and leave about 3/4 inch silver?

Duuudddddee... What gives? You seem to be so quick to spend everyone else $. Are you ever going to even buy an XK - the very purpose of the forum you're on?

We're here to enjoy, tinker post pics and decide if and what to buy. Do you mind ceasing with the "go buy some wheels" bit.

I'm not sure about powder coating leaving a silver lip, it may look a little 'pimp my ride' ish.
If you wanted a more aggressive look, going a slight shade of anthracite will look good...they do this on Audi RS range, of XKR-s.

I too wondered about the silver lip. It was an MB dealer friend that suggested leaving the silver lip because all black tends to make the wheels look smaller. Also, if you go to a MB dealer you'll see MB doing stock AMG wheels that way and it looks clean. Adds more depth the all black wheel but actually looks factory.

Gentleman Racer, obviously I'm undecided or I wouldn't be posting for feedback. Note - feedback on the options I've laid out. Not your opinion that I should "just buy wheels". Go spend your own $ not other people's. Folks should either offer an opinion on the question at hand or keep moving. Nobody forces anyone to read a post. Its a car forum for crying out loud. Interesting how the guy with 11 posts and the other guy that doesn't even own an XK want to focus on how much I've talked about wheels as if they're an authority that have shown decisiveness on the topic or even own the car. Hilarious. Troll alert perhaps?

I see your confused in more ways than one.

I never said "just buy wheels", Ice350 wrote that gem.

I'm just saying make a decision, oh, and don't get so emotional.

Just put my winter tires on my XKR. The stock rims had been curbed before I bought the car so I gave them a re & re. Being a 3 piece i dismantled them and gave the spokes to my buddy that refinished them with a flat black linear polyurethane paint and then a satin clear coat to give them depth....this gave them the Anthracite look.. I cleaned the rims up and because the chrome rings were scraped from the curbing, I brushed the chrome until I had flattened the stock chrome finish on them. I then reassembled them and could not wait to get them on the cat. HERE THEY ARE.........

I don't feel the silver ring makes it too "pimp my ride". I think it looks more Jag........

The pix in the link at the bottom of the post also shows the black TSW Donnington Rims that I run with my summer tires. Makes the car look real bad ***.

Evoking...this is a message board and I completely understand your wanting to engage others on many issues and the love we have for these cars. I have posted about things that (at first glance) may seem obvious, but it was just my desire to engage others in a discussion about my/these Jags.

I'm gonna have to back Evoking up here...it's pretty silly to chastise him or anyone on an open message board about posting *anything*. If something frustrates a reader or otherwise then the simple fix is not to read or participate.

Have you gotten any further on the wheels?

I looked into the wheels I posted about (pic of them on the BMW). They are called Pro Design 1, and they can be had for our Jags.

Cost is not cheap however - they are about $6K for a set.

Wink

I would either change the caliber's and get the Vossen's or get the 20 Inch Callisto Rims and sell the stock set that you have.

I was thinking about your dilemma. Not sure if you are aware of Rim blades that protect your rims from kerbs.
This may give you the silver lip you are after, and can remove if you don't like it
Alloy wheel protection? Rimblades, high quality, self adhesive, easy to fit.

From everything I have read on this forum, I was under the impression that these cars couldn't be driven in the winter. I'd appreciate being more enlightened on the topic. Thanks.

By far the best looking wheel I've seen on an XKR to date, and really looks the business with the suspension changes...just my opinion.

It should be as good as any other rear wheel drive car with quality snow/ice tires from a traction standpoint. Stability and traction control will help make it safe. The heated windshield, mirrors, seats, and steering wheel, along with headlight washers and a great ventilation system should make it a joy top drive. I don't recall hearing anyone say it wouldn't be good in the winter, unless they were referring to using the summer performance tires in cold weather.

I drove my XKR from Ontario back to Vancouver last January 25. It had a set of new Hankook V24 Evo's on it when I bought it. I tried to get some winter tires before I started home but nothing was available near by. The weather was clear but cold -10deg but I started back anyhow as it looked like my 4 day trip home was weather dependant.
The tires were like solid rubber in the cold, hard ride and not great traction especially with the 10" rears and no weight.
I stopped at a diner for breakfast in a one horse town along the way through the US and a guy drove in in a hot looking Audi and we got talking. The subject turned to winter tires and where could I get some and it turned out the Tire Rack head office and warehouse was 10 min. away. An hour and a half later I was on my way to BC with a set of new Michelin Pilot Sport all seasons on the car for around $1300.00 installed and balanced. They also sent the Hankook's back home for me by UPS for $150.00.
What a find. The rest of the trip was a lot less stressful and what a difference in the ride and handling. Wound it up to 150mph + early one morning in an unnamed state along the way. Stuck like glue. What a rush. I would recommend them highly. Temperature never went above -5 the whole way back until I hit the Cascades where it rained big time. Got into some sloppy snow going over the hump in Idaho. They were OK but not quite the same as driving my Range Rover. They are good in rain also. I still run the Hankook's in the summer. I also like them and it saves my winter tires.
