Dealer wants 3 hours labor and over $150 in parts.
I conducted a search of the forum, but got no results.
I can post pictures of the damage if needed.

Sorry,
That I did not send pictures earlier.
I also misquoted the dealer, the costs of the parts was not approximately $100.00, but was well over $1000.00.
Here are the pictures.
Thanks

At $100 for the parts is this not a DIY job to change as it was on the old X100?
I did it a couple of times to access under the sifter and it took less than an hour to take apart the centre console and put back together. Am guessing it's tougher on the x150 as that's progress for you!
To me it looks like some type of contamination or reaction to something spilt.
UK seller has the knob itself for a 2009, but you've usefully not listed your MY, but it may be worthwhile just making do with what you have until a used one comes up for sale?

It's not an X100 and not $100 for parts.
OP, black sharpie until you can't stand it and then replacement. I assume someone's cell phone or keys rattled around the shifter bezel to cause that much damage. There was a thread a while back on trying to refurbish them and it didn't go far because it's a difficult part to repair. You'd need to plate the plastic parts chrome and create a stretchable decal for the black parts with several layers to get the shift indications correct.

They are on eBay frequently and a DIY if you are handy.
Here's one that looks perfect for $179.

I too had considered the solarsigna product for my 07 XKR. Same peeling problem as yours. I spoke with the proprietor (can't recall his name now) and he indicated that he'd considered making the applique in black (which would be an identical replacement). I'd advise to call Solarsigna and pose the question, unless you prefer the chrome shifter appearance.
The black part of my shift assembly is still like new. I'm thinking about applying clear automotive film on top of the black surface to protect it from damage.
What do you think? Matte or glossy? Or should I leave it alone?
