Default Bought a Maserati-Selling Jag

I finally bought a 2009 Maserati Granturismo S 4.7L and selling my Jag. Unfortunately I can't afford both.
Here's my ad on Ebay if you know anyone looking for a clean Jag.
Jaguar XK Blacked Out | eBay

I'll do a comparison after I get to drive it more. The shipper ripped the front tire side wall in shipping causing it to go flat. New wheels/tires enroute.

Hi There. I would be real keen to know your thoughts on how the two compare. I drove a Jaguar F-Type coupe recently and loved it. However I also like the Granturismo. I have not driven the Maserati Granturismo but know someone who has and they said the power and handling just isn't there compared with the XKR, so that put me off a little. However the looks are just stunning and have useable seats in the rear!!
At the moment I am considering the F-Type but just can't bare to part with my XKR, I can't afford both
Would appreciate your feedback.

Ralph
That's very very kind of you. I've learned a lot from you guys and really enjoyed the Jag. I just got a fly in my bonnet to get something slightly more exotic before I retire.
Muncher
I saw a black F-type go by me in Vancouver last week and the sound brought me to my knees! Never heard a car cackle and fart on decel so superbly !
That said the one big reason for the switch was the sound the Maserati Granturismos make!
Ear-gasum!
Ill definitely report back in a week or so with a full report.
Ill find youtube for you in the mean time.

Hi Rich
Yep finally pulled the trigger. Found a 4.7L "S" model in Honolulu on craigslist!
Had to ship it over to Maui.
Couple more shots at cargo yard.

When I was in Singapore a few weeks ago I couldn't believe how well Maserati was represented. Seems like that is the car of choice at that price point.

Looking forward to your review. GranTurismo is their best looking car. I hope they don't restyle it bland like they did with Qporte and Ghibli.

Preliminary report back. Have not been able to take it to the twisties yet!
Looks like Maseratis have the same battery drain problems as the Jags! My battery died and its less then a year old Interstate AGM battery with 1000 cranking amps! It's currently at the Interstate dealer being tested. I think it has a bad cell. The previous owner did not use a battery tender, so that might explain the short life span. My Jag on the other hand hasn't needed a tender for over two years!! I do lock it in my garage.
The sound of the Maserati is incredible. I just disconnected the vacuum line that goes to each muffler so it will be in loud mode full time. Otherwise controlled by "sport" button.
I definitely get tons more looks and thumbs up. I think the Jags rev matching is a little better. I have the auto tranny not the F1 trans the quicker shifting one, but has costly clutch changes. Didnt want that headache. Jag has a smoother ride for sure.

I'll get you another update after some twisty roads.
Aloha

I think if you had an 'R' in your old Jag XK, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Just sayin....:-)

Tdub you are probably correct! Was always looking for more HP. Always envied you XKR pilots.
The Maserati does have 133 more horses than my XK.

Got my battery back after proper AGM charge and load test. They said battery was fine, just drained. Trickle charger went on today.
