Default Brake "Groan"

I have noticed that when I first back out of my garage in my 2011 XKR the breaks make a pretty loud groaning sound. They work and hold fine. The groan also seems to disappear once I back out of the garage. The groan only seems to happen at really low speed and when the car is cold.

Anyone else have this going on?

Yes, mine does the same. I chalk it up to my high performance vehicle wanting to go!

I am going to eventually change to ceramic pads, I figure it is the nature of the super grippy oem brake pads.

Cold brake pads groan sometimes with light pressure. It's just what they do. Heat them up a little bit by holding a light brake pressure while traveling a decent speed. They heat up quickly.

The groaning and or creaking goes with the OEM pads which while stop precisely, dust our wheels beyond recognition after going around the block! I changed my OEM pads immediately after purchasing my car with only 4,800 miles to Ceramics. I went with Centric Posi quiets for my fronts and of course Akebonos for the rears. No complaints, great stopping, no groaning/creaking and 90% reduction in the disgusting brake dust...

Agree that this happens with organic pads in general, not just OEM and the problem (annoyance really) goes away with ceramic pads.
