Default Buyers Guide XKR

I've belonged to other forums of highend sports cars and have been very impressed with the knowledge base everyone shares. I've looked through the forum, but couldn't find a buyers guide for 1st time purchasers if the Jaguar XKR - 2007 & above. Is there such a guide in this forum, a kind of "look for these items" before purchasing. Thanks in advance, and am looking forward to purchasing my 2007-2008 XKR

This is probably too broad for you, but may be a starting point. Once you hit 10 posts I think you can PM individuals that have the model you are looking for. Welcome to the forum!

I'd go for 2008 as a minimum model year.

From my test-drives I found the 2007-8 XKR (4.2 supercharged) drives much like my 2010 XK (5.0). Smooth and quick. Maybe a little quieter. But I'm kind of a techie, so I liked the shifter dial over the manual-like gear knob.

I've never driven the 5.0 supercharged--I'd be afraid to know what I was missing

I haven't seen much in the way of "what to look for" (warning signs) like we have with some of the older models. Mostly people seem to concern themselves with what look they like the best, how many previous owners, miles, and any indication that the interior wasn't properly cared for. Maybe look for leather pulling up on the dash around the edges, which has been a bugger for some people.

Eric:

If you go to eBay.com and search for 2007 Jaguar XK Sales Brochures, you will find sales brochure(s) (original from Jaguar) for sale. These will cover 2007, 2008, or 2009 and up. The cost ranges between $15.00 and about $22.00. The sales brochures will show all options, accessories etc. These sales brochures are usually the same sales brochure that you can get free at the dealership. However I doubt that any dealership will have the sales brochures for so many years back. I suggest that you also search Google for car reviews on the year and model Jaguar that you have an interest in. The reviews are easy to find.

I myself am fairly new to the Jaguar brand recently (May24th, 2013) after buying a 2009 Jaguar XKR "Portfolio Edition". There are some great values available on XK/XKR's dated 2008-2009-2010-2012. Many of these cars for sale, can be purchased at trade-in values, so complete research and complete your due diligence before buying. Check the values using Nada.com, KBB.com, and edmunds.com they are all valuable sources for pricing. A good source for finding cars is ebay, and autotrader. Be sure to run a VIN check on the car of interest before buying. Perhaps consider a CarFax or AutoCheck report. These reports will generally provide a complete history of the car.

I am well pleased with my recent purchase, and the members of this Jaguar Forum have been EXTREMELY helpful in answering questions and providing helpful information. This forum is a very valuable website, were you can research so many topics relating to your Jaguar model.

Good luck on your search, and hopefully you will enjoy the new ride. Owning a Jaguar becomes a quick learning curve, and this is a great place (Jaguar Forums) to get educated from so many Jaguar owners and Jaguar experts from around the world.

Thanks to everyone on this board for their input and knowledge. I purchased my 07 XKR today, its a Ebony Black exterior with charcoal interior. 2 Owner car with only 30,000 miles on the clock. I'm having the car shipped to me and should be delivered to me on Wednesday the 24th of July. With the help of this forum, I'm having the IPOD ACM installed by my dealer prior to pick up. Thanks to everyone, and I'll post pics wants she's in my garage.

Make sure they leave enough cord to let you keep the device in cup holders. If not, it ends up being a pain to use.

If there is no receipt for the ac condenser fix, it may be something you'll want to consider fixing or leaving a budget for.

Enjoy your XKR!
