Default Caliper colors on liquid silver car?

So my car is getting a complete brake remake, with slotted amd cryoed rotors and EBC Yellowstuff pads, The process has me wondering if I should paint my calipers while it is torn apart?

I'm a tad afraid that Red would be a little too bold for a silver car. Thoughts?

Other ideas would be to just clean them up... or...
Paint them black
Paint them Silver
Paint them blue (Frence racing blue? (ie XKR-S blue))?

Other ideas?

I'm not out for a garrish ricer look, prefering Jags more subtile "touch of class" ....
I have the 19" Carelia's and may consider plastidiping to a gunmetal gray...(still pondering that one for a while)... For now it is all silver on silver...

Thanks for input!
Vince

Default Coloring Brake Calipers

I have and 06 Silver XKR with Sepang wheels and it came with red Brembo's and it looks good. Color is a personal thing but I would not paint them, rather have them power coated. I have done this to a few cars with nice wheels added and it makes the car more classy. Powder coating is a more involved process because it requires taking the calipers completely apart, media blasting, coated and then baked. They will last a very long time that way. Painting, even the best paint, does not seem to last as well. Try sticking a colored card over the caliper, with the wheels on the car, with different colors and see which you like the best.

Good Luck

I would go with black. You don't want to make them too much of a focal point.

British racing green may be appropriate for these cars and would not be flashy at all IMO... but I also think red is fine on calipers.

I've got red on my black XF, it looks awesome, it really sets off the black and chrome. With silver I'd probably go gunmetal grey or black to hide the brake dust. But I'd consider yellow too, because I have no taste and cant help myself.

I think red on most colors works... but worry it will be harsh on Silver....
Really thiking hard about blue (Slightly more silver friendly if you know what I mean) .

British Racing green.... interesting thought... not sure about that one....

Guess I could just get lazy and clean it up, install the parts and be happy, but it will all be apart, so I'm expolreing my options.

Thanks again folks....

Looks like they paint everything green, including the struts. Don't know why one would want their struts in the face so much.

Black or silver for me...........Black would be a good contrast both against the silver and also against the yellowstuff pads.

I like red calipers and thought about changing the color of mine my car has Brembos but they came in silver - not sure how Jaguar determined which cars got red versus silver, but it's the same part.

I think ever since VW started painting ordinary brake calipers red, the whole 'look at me and my brembos' thing has kind of jumped the shark. Might want to choose another color just to avoid accusations of posing.

I'm leaning that way.

Another color I have seen that spark the "hummm" factor was Yellow. However Blue still hits my fancy if I wanted color.

But in the end I have to remember I dont have fancy high end calipers, so making OEM "pop" is kinda foolish.... Black or silver would just make it look clean...

Need to look and see if there is room for a contrasting logo.... would be a nice touch... anyone know?

Thanks again
V

Yellow will look the worst the fastest if you don't keep them pristine. Even then in 6 months or less they'll still look dingy.

Mine's Liquid Silver as well, and I went with a glossy black. I'm very happy with the results. Dark blue might have been interesting, but I felt that the black was a little more in keeping with the car's look. They're a little bit more visible than I expected, but still very subtle.

Still need to redo the "R" logo at some point, its faded a bit....

Red. Can't go wrong with red. I had a silver 2010 XKR and wished it had red calipers, but not enough to pay to have them powder-coated

Peace,

Skeeter

So after the fact, do you feel a Matte Black might have been a better choice?

I originally wanted matte, but ended up going with a satin paint (per mfg) that looks to me as more of a semi-gloss. I actually like the look a lot, holds up to the glossiness of the silver paint of the car well. This is probably easier to clean too..

Here's the paint:
