Default Cam cover gasket

I have not found a FELPRO gasket number for a '98 XK8. Does the 50397 work on a non-super charged AJ26 engine?

Sorry you are in the wrong thread. Go to XK8/XKR. You are in the 2007+ XK/XKR thread.

If you plan on doing the work yourself and keeping the vehicle, I have found it best to use the original Jaguar cam cover gaskets, spark plug boss seals and centre bolt seals. In my experience, the aftermarket gaskets and seals do not seem to seal as well, tending to leak within a short time.

To ensure you get the correct parts, you need to supply the VIN.

The correct procedure and torque sequence is in the JTIS Workshop Manual on the forum for the X100.
