Cambo's CarPlay/ Android Auto device - a quick review
Two things:
1. You’re posting on the wrong thread…there’s a thread for Mr 12 Volt https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ntrols-281819/
2. To get sound you need to install the most loop on the USB/iPod module…it’s on the right side in the trunk next to the tail light.
Maybe the moderator can move this…

6. Issues after my installation
I do not seem to get any sound via the Mr12Volt module. My phone indicates a playing song, but no sound.
Also, the Google maps application does not emit any sound as expected.
Maybe, I chose the wrong module instead of the Bluetooth module to be looped-out. I will check now.

So my problem remains: no sound from the Mr12Volt device.
Update: I do have a Bluetooth dongle connected to the native Jaguar iPod connector (INVERY). When I select "INVERY" as the Jaguar sound module, I do get sound from my iPhone (iTunes, Spotify, radio apps etc.).
However, when the Google Maps instructions are not sent to this port, so I do not hear them.
Another symptom: when I choose Mr12Volt _xxxx as Bluetooth connection, it connects shortly and then switches rapidly to "Not connected", possibly since Apple CarPlay takes over from here.
Did anyone of you with Mr12Volt installations have such audio issues?
I inherited (via PayPal) @arenaej ’s Cambo CarPlay/AndroidAuto unit, and installed it last week. Finally had a chance to check it out, and pretty happy with the results.
An issue we had with losing the British babe’s voice when using the Volvo map disk in the OEM navigation system, is overcome in CarPlay by setting your iPhone region location to UK, and in the Siri settings selecting the language to English (UK), and the voice to British (Voice 1).
Works for me! (Although my Lexus now sounds definitively British as well!)

@WhiteXKR I know you haven’t been here in a while, but I have the remote top with window controls on my shopping list for Nov.
LakeTime, please do let us know if you hear back.
Unlike the Bluetooth, I doubt anyone will be taking out the remote top kit and selling it.
Oh my!

I only carry OldJaguar's Bluetooth module, not their Carplay. You can reach Cambo at cambo@oldjaguar.com
Ingore, I realized you are oldjaguar.com and Cambo is in Australia and separate.
But if you decide to discontinue the remote top.... DIBS before they're gone.

I sent him an email so we will see what happens. I would look at the Mr12volt unit also but my car only shows the aux input and two rca cables on the screen not any indicators for usb so I'm not sure it would work for me.
Ton of threads on here on activating that which requires engineering mode in SDD.
That said, I think @Sean W is the only one that posted about doing it in the 2007 and had to change head units and flash it. He can confirm.
2008-09 had the option of the 4.2s.
But that gets pricey just for CarPlay for an 07.
You can activate USB using Autologic or SDD. Mr12Volt now ships with a 30 pin ribbon cable so your screen will work…
ArenaJ and Sean W are the de facto experts here, and of course WhiteXKR knows all the ins and outs of the jag’s electronic systems.
I’ve read every single thread on getting music to your speakers. Repeatedly. Here is the summary:
1) The ole USB/iPod kit. Not worth the $ at this point, but still floating around on eBay.
2) Cambo’s CarPlay which was the best at the time, but requires a button to swap. Don’t think it is available anymore. Let me know if you hear back from him.
3) OldJag’s BT unit is sold by thejagwrangler.com. It uses the AUX and provides no controls via the car. Head unit or steering wheel. But if you just want to stream audio through your phone, great easy solution.
4) Tesla Style. Quite complicated install. Most here who put it in, took it out eventually and went with oldjag BT or Mr12V. Can be cool, but had some limitations.
5) Mr12V. This is the route I’m taking. It only became usable for the 07-09 this past May or so, when they added the 40 to 30pin adapter. Have not heard any complaints or limitations so far.
Just get into SDD and make sure you can enable Portable Audio USB. Where it is in the menus is in at least 3 different threads on here. Enabling it without hardware hurts nothing. Same with AUX.
Hope this puts the whole thing to rest and can be used as a reference for newer X150 owners in the future.
Nah, that's not it. This thread was first about Cambo's (oldjaguar) screen and audio system.
Then people started talking about the Mr12Volt system.
Then Cambo (oldjaguar) got mixed up with Steve aka WhiteXKR (jagwrangler) along with his top controller and other things on his web page, and now it's hard to tell what this thread is about.

@Cee Jay , you are correct. @Circumnavigator forgot to include the JagAux Bluetooth Adapter for streaming from a phone (or even from an auxiliary input jack). That's the upgrade I installed and its high-end codecs sound exceptional on the Bowers & Wilkins system. It uses the steering-wheel buttons for track pause, track forward, and track backward (see video at Step 6).

I stand corrected.
