Default Can someone educate me on rear brakes

Instead of high jacking the brake thread I would like a little better understanding of the rear brake pad replacement. I am more interested in how to deal with the e-brake. Unlike my kids Audi the park brake on the jag has a cable activation. As I look at my caliper I can see it is easy to remove the cable by slipping it off of the brake lever. That would allow me to pull the caliper and crank in the piston and replace the pads. Now comes the part I am unfamiliar with. How would you reset the parking brake. Do you place the cable over the lever before you install the caliper or after. Will the cable be lose or to tight to get on. Last is how do you reset the e-brake. Now my old Ferrari had an integrated e-brake (lever type) with a cable that slipped on but there was an adjustment on the caliper where you would set a .010 gap between the new pad and the rotor. In the Audi there are motors in each caliper and you need special SW to reset the e-brake. So with the Jag can it be reset on the screen or the P button or do you need a dealer to get it reset. I don't have to do this now but something just for the future. Thanks

Have you looked through the X150 Workshop Manual? The procedure is clearly outlined along with the necessary tools to perform brake pad replacement.

start the car, push down the park brake release button to disengage and shut off the car leaving the keys in the car. then it wont reapply the parking brake and you do a normal brake job like any other with a screw in caliper piston

None of the gyrations required for the Audi or Ferrari are required or of any benefit. As per the two posts above, follow the procedure in the shop manual. Resetting the EPB afterwards is equally simple and requires no tools or software.

I should have also added I like to bed the pads a couple stops before I reset the parking brake or sometimes you can get a EPB brake fault from overreaching

SINCE MY STATEMENT APPLIED TO BOTH JAGUARS WITH KEYS YOU PUT IN IGNITION AS WELL AS SMART KEYS WITH HIDDEN AND VISABLE (THOSE THAT TAKE A CHANCE PUTTING HOUSE KEYS ON THE SMART KEY THAT IS HELD IN PLACE WITH A SMALL PLASTIC PIN AND EASILY BREAKS) I USED THE STANDARD WORD OF KEYS, (BOTH SMART AND DUMB)
