It's worth having the wheels ceramic coated. Saves time on car washing.
+1. I got my wheels coated and the heavy dust of the OEM pads just falls off, honestly driving through puddles in a storm makes the wheels look near freshly washed. I REALLY like how well the stock brakes work for street use and didn't want to change the bite or composure of them.

The stock pads are miles better than EBC reds. Look at the friction coefficient of the two pads hot and cold. Look at the operating range. EBC reds are poor performing but dust slightly less, also they are poorly made and most of the time the wear sensors don’t fit properly. Fact.

funny how saying something is fact doesn’t really mean much. To be charitable, and in keeping with the Christmas spirit, I’ll just say we have differing experiences to bring to this discussion. Assuming you are speaking from experience and not just relying on what you’ve read on the internet.

I’ve actually conducted 60 to zero stopping performance exercises several dozen times with the different pads, to see by actual experiences what the characteristics and performance of each pad are by testing them, not relying on anyone else to fill my mind with their opinions or easily manipulated specifications. Personally testing the stopping distances was the only way our shop could in good faith recommend any product when asked.

so go ahead with your facts, such as they are. And I’ll go my way with the empirical (look it up) data I collected myself .

PS. The”poorly made” statement is especially humorous, thank you for the unexpected laugh.

Defo but don't drink beer so mine'll be something stronger!

I do find it hilarious when speaking to American's and they comment on my 'cool accent' I then ask them which language they speak, when they reply "Eenglish", naturally I crack up.

Same mirth applied to Canadian's when I enquire where in North America they're from, they proudly state (90% of the time) "No I'm Canadian!!" They are NOT impressed when I inform them 'It's a continent you dumb****'

Sadly my 'Eenglish' is about the best there is as my voice was on 11 million UK answering machines, plus I got down to the last 2 to be the national speaking clock.

Below is a piece of (American) cinematic history that always springs to mind when I meet anyone from Oklahoma

Mods feel free to delete the link, if you think homophobic

You can see why I had to leave the states after 7yrs!?

All done in the best POSSIBLE taste.

Agree, with you regarding the EBC reds btw, I find them biblical and suit my needs.

Oh come now, Can’t we give a each other a little space to get off topic without the hatred ? if there’s no place for Christian charitable good will towards men in the middle of the worst global health crisis in 102 years, then when will it ever be the right time .

Can’t the bad vibes wait until December 26th ? Or are we all too sensitive to let anything slide ? People are dying right and left, and a poor joke can’t be tolerated without condemnation ?

Damn, I think I ordered the wrong pads for the rear. I ordered Akebono EUR1095 Ultra-Premium Ceramic Brake Pad Set. I think their for xkr 2007-09 and xk 2009-15. I have a xkr 2014. Well, I guess I'll go to the dealer and pickup some dust makers. Anyone need a set of rear pads for their car?

I absolutely stand by my testing and driving both on track and on the road. Take your car on a road course with EBC reds once you have filed down the wear sensor slots so you can fit the wire and see how many laps you make before you have no brakes. Maybe you can get one lap in on a short track then you will have no brakes. Then after your brakes have failed remove the pads and see how the pad surface looks. Cracked and crumbled would be my guess. Yes, I know they are not track pads but neither are OEM pads nor are Porterfields but they all are better than EBC reds. I am m

early a hobbyist driver that goes to the track occasionally. This is the result of my testing. I really did expect better from the red ones but they let me down and if you ever decide to take your car above 60 for repeated hard stops I suggest you improve your pads also.

I’ve had the ebc redstuff pads installed in several vintage cars and none had issues with stopping repeatedly from speeds in the 140 - 150 mph range. They are in my XKR, which sees tripe digit (mph) speeds on a daily basis. The pads perform and wear to my complete satisfaction.

suffice It to say, we have enjoyed vastly differing experiences. No point in boring each other any more over this impasse.

Enjoy your holidays.

Thanks for the great clip! Always enjoy some cheeky input in a thread, these forums can be a bit stale at times. Anyway, on to arguing about brake pads as if that is critical to our world. If they stop a car then they work.
