Default Change in message center about tire pressure system failure

Okay, guys and gals.
I have admittedly neglected to deal with the "Tyre Not Monitored" message (graphically indicating the right rear tire) that has been up since we bought our '07 back in November. Bad, bad bad bad Jaguar owner. I never found out if it was just a TPM that lost it's battery life or if it was a dysfunctional radio monitor. Again.. I hang my head in shame.

About two weeks ago, the message changed to "pressure monitoring system failure" or something like that. Does this indicate that more than one TPM has gone bad? Is this a different problem like a fuse? I am about to order 4 new TPMs, but would love to know what to expect from my mechanic when I take them and the car to him.
Thanks in advance.
George

Yeah, I think you get that when more than one TPM stops communicating.

A local tyre shop should be able to quickly check the tpm on each wheel with there dodad receivers.

I was having issues with mine - the tpm warnings did not disappear until I disconnected the battery and let stuff reset. It's been good ever since.

VDO SE53001 Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor | RockAuto

This is the best price I can find. Anybody beat this? I tried to find a "4-pack discount", but no luck.

That's the lowest price I've seen for years.

Just pulled the trigger. 2-3 day shipping for $190.15. Man, I can't wait to see that beautiful clock in the middle of the dash screen for the first time...

Uh, until then, push the little red triangle on the bottom edge of the touchscreen, a ways from the right bottom corner. That brings up the CLEAR WARNING box, then click CLEAR or something like that. Once for each warning.

Could have saved a couple dollars each, by going with the 53004:

VDO SE53004 Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor | RockAuto

It's a newer version of the 53001. Had them installed last year, no problems.
Cost me ~$49 each on Amazon then, nice to see they've come down in price on RockAuto.

Just to put this thread to bed, I took our XK into the tire shop yesterday with four new TPMS in the front seat. Of course they said it was going to cost more than just installing them because they had to hook them up to the computer and recalibrate blah blah blah... I told him, that's not consistent with my information. Then he said, well I'll put anything in your car you want, but it just may not work. I said thank you. Less than 5 miles down the road afterward, I was looking at a digital clock face! Thanks, everybody!

Speaking of TPMS issues, I'm getting a fault intermittently (aren't they all?) that says to check tire pressure. It will show front right, then rear right, then rear left. Then it goes off. This happens every few days and I've checked and the tire pressure is fine.

Hey Chaz, check out this thread. I had the same issue. The short of it was to bump up the pressure on all tires to about 40psi and leave it for a while to see if the message clears, then drop down to normal over the course of a few days (weeks in my case).

Again, for anyone else out there with a persistent warning on the dash...
Push the little red triangle on the bottom edge of the touchscreen, a ways from the right bottom corner. That brings up the CLEAR WARNING box, then touch CLEAR WARNING. That clears it and brings back the clock. Multiple warnings, multiple clears...

yeah, I read you on that before, but there was never any red triangle on my touch screen. You aren't talking about the hazard flasher button directly below the touch screen, right?

It's there, it's ALWAYS there with all TPMS faults:

I would have told them to show me the software they intended to use. It's very doubtful they have ever heard of SDD.

I will look for that next time we run low on washer fluid, But I don't ever recall seeing that. And if it's red, seams like I would have noticed it.
Interesting...

ETA: It appears you have a 2010. Maybe your system has that and mine does not?

Naw, there is a guy that works there - he is a Jag guy. But the owner... I have been going to this shop for 20 years. They advertise mostly as a tire shop, but they do everything (except tranny rebuilds). I think he's just got this standard shpeal about every segment of your repair request. Like boilerplate language to cover his *** on costs.

Well, that's just stupid. I D/Led a 2007 manual to check, and it IS different.... this is all that is written...

Sorry, my bad.

The TPMS warnings are amber not red on both the 2007 and 2010 cars and, yes, you should be able to press the little warning triangle on the touch screen to clear most message on the 07.
