Is that an automotive finish or a powder coat?

 

It was explained to me as a 2-step powder coat consisting of a chrome base coat followed by a translucent metallic coat. The "dark" hypersilver is a black base coat instead of chrome. Both look really cool in person and have a lot deeper lustre than regular metallic paint.
