Default Changing front side bulb

I removed the headlight pod as per the manual's instructions, which is very simply, loosening three screws and carefully wiggling out the pod. I'm posting this, however, as a warning to others that might try this. I decided to forego the step of disconnecting the washer hose, thinking that I could pull out the pod far enough to remove and replace the bulb without detaching the hose. Well, I snapped the plastic elbow. I'm going to attempt to glue it back together, but my experience would suggest that this won't be a satisfactory or lasting fix.

In short, don't take shortcuts.

SYD,
If the elbow is windshield washer size you can find tees at auto supply; but elbows are hard to find! so just block one side of a tee............

Your right, glueing won't last....but I have never used my (or my wife's XK8) washers anyway.

Good luck, Adrian

I hate to admit this, but I didn't even know I had them until I broke it.

Headlight washers? We got headlight washers? Where is the fluid stored, or does it share with the windscreen? How are they enabled?
Thanks for any experienced shared.....

They share the same fluid with the windshield, and are activated automatically. I think you get one squirt on the headlights for every 6 or 10 (I forget the number, it's in the manual I believe) squirts on the windshield.
I didn't know if mine worked until I was working on one of the hoses to the windshield (right hand side) that had come disconnected when I received the car. After playing with it to make sure my connection was going to hold, I noticed the headlights had been sprayed, so I now know they work too!

In the U S the headlight washers only work when the headlights are on and you activate the windshield washer. I think the spray count is as kj07xk says above.

From the manual (for 5.0, but it's basically the same in the 4.2 manual):

Headlamp power wash operates automatically with the windscreen wash, and will only operate if the headlamps are switched on and there is sufficient washer fluid in the reservoir.
Headlamp wash operates with every fourth operation of the screen washers, provided that 10 minutes have elapsed since the last operation of the headlamp washers.
