I just purchased a low mileage early production XK Coupe. It came with a cigar lighter on the console and an accessory charger outlet in the glove box. The manual states never use the cigar lighter as an accessory charger. Has anyone had an issue with plugging in a cell phone or GPS into the cigar lighter outlet? Is there a way to swap out the cigar light outlet for an accessory outlet?

 

My wife uses the lighter socket for her cell phone, as the glove box is too inconvenient. Good question!

 

Been using the lighter socket to charge my phone since I got the car in February. No issues.
