I have a couple of stains on my soft top (2007 XK), and am looking for any safe solution to clean the top. Any special soap solution? Thanks.

 

To CLEAN it before you TREAT it, follow the generic instructions of "Mild Detergent and Warm Water". I use Dawn Dish Washing Liquid to clean once a year as it tends to also remove some of the wax from the paint. After the top fabric has been thoroughly cleaned and dried, I use ..... oh, what the heck........ 31 something? Damn my old brain. No! 303 is the name of it. Takes awhile to apply well, but it works great. Of course after the Dawn Liquid another coat of wax is necessary. If cerami-coated, don't worry about that.

 

Any more information on the "303". I don't know what that is or where I can find it. Thanks.

303 Fabric Guard is available from Amazon and big box hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowes. Prices vary, so shop around.

 

I highly recommend the 303 products, both the cleaner and fabric protector, I've tried both the brush on and spray on method for the fabric protector and found that the spray method worked best for me. I also used sheets to protect the rest of the car from any overspray. When working around the rear window, I used a flexable file folder as a shield. One word of caution that I learned the hard way is not to turn off the engine when the top is partially open. If you do this you will have to reset the top manually in order to get it to work again.

 

I've had good results with Ragg Topp and this link from Hartz offers a stronger cleaning solution that works great. Actually removed most mildew type stains.
