Default Clear side markers for 2012 XKR in Canada/US

Hey Guys,

Now I know this might be considered pretty minor, but I was wondering if anyone has put clear side markers on their XK's (as they do in Europe see pic on left). I find it's a much cleaner look than the orange ones we are subjected to here in North America. Is it just me? Has anyone on this side of the pond done a conversion? If so, please let me know where you got them.

Cheers,

If I had an a 2012 I would do it depending on reasonable price. It does make the car look cleaner and more modern.

It makes a huge difference. I took the amber plastic off my previous car and it looked so much better. The bulb still shined amber for the parking light, so I'm guessing it was legal-enough. It's on my to-do list for this vehicle, too.

I'm guessing we may have to order them from a dealer on the other side of the pond. Maybe we can get a group deal if there is enough interest and save on shipping costs, too. I would definitely buy a set.

I guess this could also be done to the pre-2012 headlight if it is taken apart and the amber lens is replaced with a clear lens. Anyone hear of doing this?

See here for a DIY on a different car. It probably could be done on ours as well.

Note the part where he says:
Obviously, this is where you throw away the orange reflector--thus creating the "clear corner".

I am in contact with a UK dealer and he said it should be no problem to send the lenses over. He is double checking the part numbers against my VIN and said he will get back to me today.

Part numbers for the clear reflectors on the XKR-S:

C2P23241 & C2P23243

I do not know if these are the same as on the XKR.

My local dealer said they couldn't help because Jaguar would not ship a U.K. part for U.S. use...and one dealer in the U.K. said basically the same. I was disappointed at first because I never had this problem when buying the Euro clear lenses for my 911 directly from my local U.S. Porsche parts dealer.

Luckily, I found another dealer in the U.K. who is willing to help. I will keep everyone posted if this works out. I should have them by next week.

Let me know- I looked into this as well, but was told they would have to take the front bumper off to install them. Hopefully, this won't be the case and it will be an easy install

No worries, I know for sure that isn't true because I've already removed mine and blacked them out. I pried them off with a tiny flat head screwdriver and and some painters tape around the edges to not scratch the paint...They are just held in place with an adhesive, no screws. Just be very careful not to crack them when prying them off if you plan to keep them. One of mine cracked but I was able to easily glue it back together and when painted black you can't even tell.

Looks much better now though...I just can't stand that amber reflector!

I suspect they are the same parts for the XKR. Glad to hear you had some success with a UK dealer and it sounds like you ordered them. Can you let us know the contact info for the dealer and what they charged you including shipping?

Thanks!!

The dealer said they would probably be shipping them out to me on Monday. He said he should have them on Saturday.

As for pricing, here is what he told me yesterday.

"I’ve attached a picture to confirm – number 7 reflectors (your part numbers are correct) are priced at £33 each including UK vat. I would need to order them in, which would take a couple of days.

I looked into shipping to the USA and it is quite expensive – the cheapest courier service is ‘FedEx World Economy’ (3 days +) at £27.00.

This would make the total £93.00 delivered to you."

Since then, I have asked them to look into using USPS for shipping. They are going to get back to me on that.

Once they arrive and everything is satisfactory, I will first make sure it is okay with them before I share his email on a public forum. I am sure he wont mind pointing business his way, but I think it is probably the proper route to take just to make sure.

I am really looking forward to these clear reflectors. Thanks for starting the thread and helping me get motivated to find them.

Best,

Matt

Well, I have good news and bad news.

The good news is the shipping is now half as much as before. Total cost with shipping is around $125. He said mine will be shipping out today.

The bad news is the dealer told me not to advertise their name on the forum.

He did say that if someone is interested then I can refer them by word of mouth. So I guess if you would like to send me a PM, I will give you their contact information.

Here is some of what he said.

I would normally be delighted to feature on the forum as a supplier of these, however all the Jaguar dealers in the UK were recently ‘reminded’ by Jaguar that under our dealer contracts, we must not advertise or supply any parts to any country outside of our own market – this even includes EBay!

Lastly, I did ask him if the XKR-S and XKR reflectors are the same part.

His reply is the XKR reflectors are indeed DIFFERENT than the XKR-S reflectors. He gave me these part numbers for the XKR only.

XKR- US Amber - left hand C2P22647 / right hand C2P22645

XKR- UK/Europe clear - Left hand C2P22648 / C2P22646

Hey Matt, thanks very much for your efforts on this, and reporting back to us with the lay of the land from a Jag corporate/dealer perspective. Completely understood. I have sent you a PM so that I can approach them privately as you have done.

Good Show!!

My clear reflectors arrived yesterday from the UK and they are perfect...really changes the look of the front end, much cleaner now. Those amber reflectors really contrast way too much with the rest of the car. I am glad to see them go!

Will post up a pic later.

The ones I received for the XKR-S come with adhesive tape on the back of them. They simply stick into the shaped indentions on each side of the XKR-S aero bits on the front bumper. I don't know what you will need for the XKR, as I don't have one to check. Sorry!
