Default A Convertible Top Question

When I raise the top on my 2008 XK, there is a stage of the closing process where is seems part of the top comes down onto the top frame "harder" than it seems that it should. There is a definate "clunk" and bounce. This does not seem to have caused any problems. The top closes and seals perfectly. I am just a bit concerned that in time something coming down that hard has got to eventually break or bend something.

Or am I just being paranoid?

Funny you ask that, my 08 does the same thing. When it was at the dealer I asked them to check the operation of the top to make sure it was operating as designed. They came back and said it was OPS normal.

But your right, there is that last movement where the top is just starting to come down when all of a sudden it just drops and "bangs" into the windshield cross bar. It seems out of place in an almost $90K car. But it is what it is.

Tom,

The "clunk" and bounce on my 08 is at the closing stage right before the "final" stage you have described.

I have a really good service manager at my local Jaguar dealership who has on several occasions repaired things I did not even know was wrong, but he has never commented on this particular issue (though he has raised and lowered the top on my XK several times)

Hmmm, I wonder who else is seeing and hearing the same things we are...
