Hi All: Have just put 800 miles on my “new” 2013 XK with just 40,000 miles on it. The rubber along the top and sides off the top looked really dirty and dry, so, I thought I’d buy some rubber restorer and improve things. I had the top half way open, with the engine running, took about 5-10 minutes to treat all the gaskets. During the treatment, the top flopped down on its own. Would not respond to the actuator button. Went into reset mode per owner’s manual, got the top up, but, it stopped and I could only latch it using the allen wrench. But, even with the roof closed, I could not get the rear quarter windows to go up. Keep getting “hood not latched” warning. Backed off the pump with the allen wrench again, and now the top is almost closed, but, it will not budge to the point where I can latch it manually again and try to get all the windows shut again. The pump was very hot, so, I have left it sit. I see some odd indications of repairs on the left side mechanisms The tonneau panel has dropped into place properly, but the top, even with pump in reset position, will not let me pull it down to manually latch. Cannot get rear 1/4 windows to go up.
under the tonneau. The emergency release by the pump for the tonneau worked properly once, now, it seems to be unlocked and hanging down - shouldn’t it want to reset to the normal position after reset? When I first got the car, I noticed that the tonneau did not seem to latch firmly when it “flopped shut” over. the convertible. I was hoping to just get the top to latch and get all four windows up, but, it seems like the front portion of the top does not want to be forced down manually. Any suggestions? I do love the car when it’s working!
You need to manually stow the top. Top down and stowed is actually the resync position.
To get the top stowed with the pump disengaged you need to lift the front and back edges of the top toward one another and then under the tonneau. You should then be able to raise the top back up with the button after reengaging the pump.
Had the same issue couple of months ago. You should never left top in a intermediate position with engine running. It causes valve block overheat. As mentioned above, pull top down manually then recalibrate. To make cleaning/maintainance open the top to intermediate position and turn engine off. You will have about half an hour before it begin to release pressure and drop. Then release pump valve, pull the string cord to release tonneau and put top down to reactivate.
