Default Cosmetic differences btn 2 XKR models

Parked beside another XKR (slightly older version) while waiting for a friend, and decided to play "Spot the difference".

Default Larger rear spoiler on the newer XKR

Older model has smaller rear spoiler.

In this aspect I like the older XKR.

Default Chrome side with signal indicator Vs Black w/o signal indicator

The signal indicator for newer model is found on the wing mirrors.

I definitely like the new XKR in this aspect!

Default Front emblem difference

Only a pair of sharp eyes will spot this!

The front emblem is different...

The older XKR emblem has a inner ring circling the Jaguar.

Like the older emblem!

Default Tail lamps difference

The older XKR has tail lamps resembling "eye brows".
The newer one has tails lamps resembling a grin.

Prefer the Jag grin...

I'm biased, obviously, but I really do prefer the earlier version.

I love the fact you took time to do this, thanks!

As personal opinions go, I'll side with Steveinfrance on most the items.

As Jag shifts its image to cater to a market driven by oversized rims and ground effects, I am somewhat saddened to see the clean lines give way to a busy or cluttered look. (But then, as a biased XK owners, I dislike the hood vents for nearly the same reason.)
I do think the new mirrors and taillights are sharp.

Thanks again for sharing!

Hood vents appeared on the E-types since the 60's!

Doesn't mean I have to like them!

I simply like the lines of a clean hood....

My point is that hood vents are not a result of Jaguar shifting its image to cater to a market driven by oversized rims and ground effects!

Up until recently I preferred not to have the vents but they have grown on me now.

The referance pretaining to the vents was "clean lines and uncluttered looks".
I appologize if my wording was not clear on that perspective.

question: Are they functional, or there for looks?

The mirrors on the 07 I had were not power folding mirrors. I don't think they started to offer that as an option until 2009...

I have found on other cars that the European version had folding mirrors years before they arrived on US models.....
