Crossover pipe install with Mina exhaust
I am about to remove the center resonator (muffler) on my '08 XK and replace it with a Magnaflow crossover pipe. I currently have the Mina Gallery exhaust system and I am hoping this will compliment it nicely. I did this before on my '02 XK8 with the Mina exhaust and it worked out great. I believe I need to put the crossover about 8-10 inches behind where the two pipes come together near the front of the car. Before I get this done, should I have any concerns or could anyone add their input. Thank you in advance.

Minor change of note for the better. Nothing to rave about though. Installed exactly where the center resonator was. Pretty happy but much more significant change on my old '02 XK8. I would recommend, but don't go out of your way. $180 total out of pocket spent. Worth the experiment however.... Happy Motoring!

Am I assuming correctly that a Magnaflow "crossover" is also known as an "x" pipe?
I've had some experience with "x" pipe on another vehicle V8, and will probably install some variant on my XK. I think there is no doubt that a balance tube between exhaust pipes helps exhaust scavenging. I suspect there is such a connection within the Jaguar OEM resonator, but personally have not confirmed such.
There seems to be a consensus that an "X" pipe marginally increases torque/horsepower over a simple balance tube. I think it is like all precise exhaust tuning measures - very dependent on placement and materially beneficial in a very narrow rpm range. But, by the same token, I have never heard that it decreases torque/hp.
A "X" pipe will definitely change exhaust tone, reducing crackle and sharpness resulting in a bit more mellow "rounder" tone.
There are three reasonably-priced "X" pipe variants that I know of: 1. Magnaflow's simple pipe; 2. Magnaflow's short "X" muffler and 3. Dynomax's longer "X" muffler. The "X" mufflers referenced have very little back pressure.
Jaguar's V8 is similar to many V8s in that it suffers hugely from exhaust drone at low rpm/light throttle. My experience is that the "X" pipe and its variants do not reduce exhaust drone.
