Ctek battery tenders in the UK and battery size Ah

HI Guys
Im over in the UK and Im struggling to source a Ctek 3300 as recommended on here. So nipped onto the Ctek website and they now seem to only produce the MXS 3.8 which is for batteries from 1.2Ah-85Ah and then next is the MXS 5.0 for lead acid batteries from 1.2-110Ah.

So my quick question is what is the battery rating on a 2007 XKR ?

Cheers Guys

Just a quick update seems the 3.8 Maintains batteries up to 130Ah according to a local motor parts (Halfords) LINKY

If you cant get the 3300 let me know and I will pick one up and send it to you .I think they are still available here in BC Canada. Bernie. Formaley from Blackpool .

Cheers Bernie that's very good of you,
Over here we are only looking at £58 for the MXS 3.8 and £65 for the MXS 5.0 just not sure which one

We don't have the 3300 here in New Zealand either so I bought the MXS 5.0 about 4 years ago and it worked fine with my '07 XKR.

For the small difference in price I would go with that as it will charge the battery quicker.

The 3300 unit is outdated . Get the latest version which may be the MXS 5.0. It's a much better unit.

Okaydokey thank you guys and a special thanks to Bernie for offering to send one over to me.
I'll get onto Amazon and get the MXS5.0 plus the 8' extension lead.

I'm in the same boat, I just put a new 110ah battery into my 2007 XKR a few months ago and want to keep it maintained so I just purchased the Ctek MXS 5.0 as I think it charges at 5amps. Will be fitting it this week along with the extension lead.

Charging the battery and maintaining the battery are 2 different functions . The smart chargers ASSUME that there is sufficient state of charge. (80% or more). If you read how the Ctek works you'll see it's different stages of charging which is only part of the function. Most of these chargers are in the 2-3 amp range . So it is recommended that the battery be brought up to full charge with a min. 10-20 amp charger before using a smart charger. If the system doesn't go to a green state within a half hour then you need a battery charger.

I've used an MXS-5.0 for years, just get one of them, they're very good.

Yes MXS 5 it will be with the extended cords etc as mine is kept outside, near to the garage. Just a quickie regarding charging does the negative lead have to be removed from the battery to charge or is there another way?

If you are intending to make a permanent connection to a socket on the vehicle, following the connections, layout and location in the Jaguar installation document is a neat solution.

Suitable sockets are available on ebay or alternatively CTEK do a COMFORT Indicator Panel which gives a visual display of battery condition.

Hi Graham, Many thanks.
I was initially going to use the Ctek extension as mentioned HERE on the forum. The Jaguar installation looks interesting as I guess I could hook up a normal charger to this as a fast charge if required, without the need to disconnect the battery?.
Looking at the Ctek comfort panel the socket is standard cigar socket so the Ctek MSX5 would need to be adapted to fit. But I am swaying the latter as I would only need to plug the Ctek charger in when required by the indicators.

The socket on my Comfort Indicator Panel is standard CTEK:

I've never needed to use a fast charger as the CTEK maintains the battery. Whichever car I'm using, the other is in the garage on CTEK.

I have a theory that removing the battery with CTEK connected should save all 'learned' adaptations but I've not had to replace a battery recently so haven't yet tested this.

CTEK MXS 5 installed today with the comfort lead (3 LEDs) so fingers crossed.
