I think carbon fiber would add a new pattern to the interior and would make it look to busy. If the trim was also done in carbon fiber (hmmm, could hydro it) then they would look outstanding in carbon. However, if someone was to do their interior trim in carbon they would want to do the shifters in the the same CF pattern.

Stock standard shifters are only $50 for the set? Adapting the custom shifters to the standard shifters will be very economical. Would be nice to do it in a seamless way to look factory finished.

You're doing a great job. I really like what I see and I'm looking forward to the finished product in aluminum. To keep the cost down why not do them in bushed aluminum and the user can have them finished anyway they want.

Why does Jaguar keep all the rare and fully optioned XKR's (2014 offering) in Europe? I loved my 2011 XKR 175, but felt cheated because it never had the European 75 standard performance features. I hear what your saying. You do have a rare car, indeed.

I would take a good hard look at option 2 with the thought of buying.

That is my preferred version as well.

Default How?

How exactly do you 'disable' the paddles when in 'Drive' mode? Thanks.

Is option 2 removing the existing two snap in place pieces and replacing them with the new larger better quality pieces or is it installing two new pieces on top of the existing shifters? I'd prefer the former.

option 2 would go over the existing, but would not add much thickness as to be a problem for those concerned

option 3 would replace the existing entirely

If you all would like to get a better idea of how this is going to work, it is not very difficult to remove your paddles (or one) and see how they are made.

VIA IDS/SDD or your dealer can do it.

Although I'm still loving my aluminum paddles, I may look at carbon down the road for switch.
Consider Hydrographic Water Transfer dipping in Carbon Fiber for the shifter paddles. Cost is very reasonable and probably under $20-$25.00 for the set to have this done professionally.

The Aston Martin Vantages paddles are nice in Carbon Fiber! I especially like the raised plus and minus bits.

Those look very nice. I can't get into Hydrographics - to me its cheating and looks cheap. Certainly not worthy of a Jag. Just my opinion of course.

Oh yeah, I can hear you; of course, real CF is so much better. CF today is still very expensive. Years ago chrome was very popular. To day all we get is plastic coated to look like chrome.

I think the most economical way to deliver these shifters to our members is to produce them in brushed aluminum and if someone wants a different finish they can have it done locally. The economies of scale will not justify every color and finish of choice.

The larger prototypes look more functional and substantial than the stock shifters. The lower cost will have many more members wanting them.

Carbon fiber is off the table at the moment due to cost.

They will be wrought aluminum alloy 6000 or 7000 series for those who know what that means and will be media blasted satin & anodized finish. I like red but I will probably chose to anodize them in silver.

Still hoping to have the first set done sometime next week as well as semi final pricing for 1 piece v. 2 piece.

The more I can sell, the cheaper they will be for everyone.

Jahummer ... I appreciate your willingness to answer my question ... but as a 65 year old geezer ... I haven't a clue what VIA/SDD means! My first thought is ... a new STD? ... but on 2nd thought ... maybe not.

Default New to forum and already had custom paddles made

Hey guys seen this post a few days before I joined. Thought I would be able to show the carbon ones I had made for my gt. Got them done by nexxon motors based out of Istanbul. They actually did all interior trim for me in real carbon including custom flat bottomed wheel with grips on sides and green and red stitch to match the rs logo colors , glove box, trim around steering wheel and the area by drivers knees among other parts. I think I have attached pics but not sure if im doing this right. I will try to post paddles first and will post the other just for your reference. also will include a pic of my cars. by the way the xj is front of my customers house while I was on a jobsite visit
