Default Dead battery - again.

I was hoping that the TSB software update would fix my previous problem when the battery went completely dead in 3 days after being driven longer distances. Seems like this is NOT the case as I found the battery completely discharged yesterday and reading only 2.3 VDC after being parked for about 10 days.

According to the TSB the info/entertainment system would not properly shut down after shutting the engine/car off and locking the doors. The resultant continued drain of about 1.4 Amps would drain the battery in about 2 days. This is an intermittent issue as I had the car parked for weeks recently with the battery staying up. Just as I begun to have confidence with the issue, there it goes again!

I sure hope the dealer can find a fix for it, otherwise the car would be totally unreliable for any multi day trip.

Do you have a factory or extended warranty?

am I correct that there is a TSB specifically addressing this issue about the audio system not shutting down correctly when car is locked? I am going in to have the recall updated and want them to check to see if the software update was done on my car as I think it is discharging too rapidly.

I have the Certified warranty remain on the car. It covered the application of the TSB but, we shall see if it covers any more related work this Friday.

Yes, there is a TSB specifically addressing this issue. Just ask the dealer to check the version of your software update. If you had this issue basically your car would not start after sitting for only 2-3 days. But, even before the TSB update it was an intermittent issue, happening randomly.

I purchased my car with the TSB battery module update already done and have not had any battery issues. It's for the 2010+ XK models.

took car to dealer today, the software update for the battery had not been done on the car so they did it, hopefully this will prevent excessive battery drainage.
