Welcome to the forum Ronald,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

You should add further information:

1. Coupe or Convertible?
2. if you can open the doors

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Graham

You should be able to attach an external battery. From WhiteXKR:

The positive charge point in the trunk can also be accessed from OUTSIDE the car under the trunk by removing the rubber boot over the charge point cable bolt (if you look on the underside behind the left wheel well you will see the thick cable that runs there). The negative cable can be clamped to any bare metal bolt on the chassis underside.
And then get a blade cut :-)

What he said , so just look under the left rear fender and you should see below. Pull back the rubber cap and attach your plus (+) lead from your jumper and then find a ground under the car to attach the (-). You should be able to either recharge the battery or restart the car. Warning: Make sure if you are jumping the battery from a donor car the it is not running.

How does the OP get a key cut if he doesn't have another one to use as a template? I think the only way is through a Jaguar dealer with his car's VIN.

Note that even if he had a spare key to use as a template, the blank emergency key must be laser cut. Most locksmiths charge around $40. Blanks are available cheap on eBay.

I bought a couple blank key blades off eBay, called my local dealer and sent him Proof of Ownership and he replied with the proper codes to cut the keys. I brought the stuff to a Key Shop and had one blade cut with a grinder-type key cutter. Only problem.... evidently the key material came from the planet of Betelgeuse Seven. The guy made four passes to get it right and then refused to cut the other key because he didn't want to break his machine. I guess that's why Laser Cutting is suggested.
Anyway, my Grinder-Cut key works just fine.
After that debacle, I found a different local Locksmith with a laser machine and now I have two keys.

Once the OP has a proper cut E-key in hand, I had Chinese blanks cut at my local ACE hardware (no laser needed) for $5. Vince

Lucky you. My local ACE refused to cut any blank that they didn't provide, and they don't carry the Jag blanks.

I didnt have a problem, but hey, tell them you will buy a blank of anything if they will just cut yours. Might just be a polite way of saying you understand they need a small profit for their efforts.

No, they said that if they screwed up, it was on them, and they'd just try another of their blanks. They won't use a customer provided blank, as they could assume liability for screwing it up (even when I offered to sign a waver), nor risk damaging their equipment from the material in the customer's blank.

I located a locksmith that agreed to do it, at $40 per blank! Guess I'll cast my net a little wider, and see if I can find something more reasonable.

That's what locksmiths typically charge to laser cut a key. The cost is high because the machine is expensive.
