Default Dead XK overnight

Hey all. Been really enjoying my 2010 XK for about three months, everything going fine. It was 6 degrees last night in St Louis and I tried to start my Jag this morning and it was completely dead. Even with an attempt to jumpstart properly I couldn't get it to turn over. My car has sat for multiple days with no issues on multiple occasions as it's not my only car. I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the battery going dead after just one very cold night. Couldn't really find any specific issue on the forums like this.

Well....there are numerous threads regarding batteries, dead batteries, starting issues, etc.

Have you tested the battery? Does the car turn on but starter won’t engage? How old is the battery? Need more details.

If you mean dead as in the ignition comes on but the engine won't crank then just try pushing the brake pedal much much harder when you press the start button. The system can lose pressure sometimes and it takes a much harder push to make it register that you have your foot on the brake.

Hellloooo Newman....

Did it crank and not turn over? Did it just click like a dead battery? Did the interior lights and the touchscreen go on? How did you try to jump it. with an external battery box?

As far as batteries, I had one just **** the bed with no warning. Started up fine, went to Discount tires, they couldn't get it started. I charged it up when I got home and it would not start the car a second time. Damn things!

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal and wait a minute. Reconnect it and it should start up. But definitely get it tested after.

Thanks guys. Car has a battery tender installed. I jump started it with a jump box from work which didn't work this morning but did after it warmed up to about 25 degrees.

Thanks Stuart. That took me back. When I was growing up we had a single car garage but two cars. My Mom's car stayed in the driveway (which was oddly enough a 3 car drive). During the super cold stretches, we kids were assigned the duty of removing the battery from her car and putting it in the basement on the workbench, only to reinstall it in the morning. Also had a trash can lid we'd fill with charcoal and light it. Once the fire was out, slide the hot coals under the engine. That was before block heaters.
