Isn't there some mandate that considers the height and length of the bonnet and frontal area which necessitates the PPS?

How many X150 owners have a Volvo or indeed have ever owned a modern one?

We lease a '19 XC60 T6 Inscription and had a '17 S60 T5 before that. New England is Volvo country and we got our S60 from the oldest Volvo dealership in North America (Boston).

Well we a grand total of one!

It made me chuckle at a dinner party a.few years ago we had to guess what car the other drove with just their profession disclosed.

My turn to guess, an accountant, so I said:

Volvo
Blue
Estate

Then asked him if he wore a flat cap when towing his caravan...his reply "Do I know you??"

Stereotyping can be such a pain, as a man of colour the assumption is I drive a BMW or Mercedes....lol

I have V90CC and had XC70 before. I think they have it for much longer than 2-3 years. Btw a lot of things came from one brand to the other via Ford. Front radar for ACC in my XKR is an old version of a Volvo "city safety" technology (part of it).

@MarkyUK - totally against research I've seen about Volvo drivers (at least in Europe) - speeding people looking for something safe.

The three worst automobiles I've ever owned in 52 years of driving are the 3 Volvos we owned in the mid 1980s, three different models. Wouldn't own another if it were give to me for free.

I remember Jaguar introduced PPS on the 2007 XK and got a safety award for this.

But the patent was filed under Ford Group, while both Jaguar and Volvo were at that time part of Ford.

I can imagine the idea was originally developed by Volvo engineers, who are famous on safety innovations, patented by Ford, and then as still costly to implement and maybe in need of a small scale but real life test bench, first fitted on a Jaguar...

PPS is required to when the distance between the engine and bonnet is too close to absorb the impact of a pedestrian hitting the bonnet- there needs to be room for the bonnet to deform
