Question Difference between XKR and XKR-S

Anyone know (physically) what the differences are between an XKR and an XKR-S?

Also are there any physical differences between the engines for the 2012 and 2015 model years?

I ask because the 2015 model year shows as having more horsepower, and the XKR-S even more so. I'm curious if the difference is just ECM/EXU programming.

Catfish bumper on the XKR-S with 575bhp and will do 184mph

No difference I'm aware between the normal 5.0xkr from 09-14 which all run at 503bhp excepting some (like my dynamic R) have speed pack to raise the limiter to 174 IIRC

The XKR-S Press Release tells you what the differences are:

https://images.jazelc.com/uploads/ga...essRelease.pdf

These are the performance figures from the US 2010 and 2015 XK brochures and they don't show any difference in power for the XKR.

As I understand it the "-S" identifies the last build of a model series prior to a retool or major model overhaul.

Then you understand incorrectly.
The -S is the more "Sport" model. It comes with uprated suspension, steering and engine tune. Also some aero if I remember.

XKR-S has a different tune and X-Pipe among other things. There's plenty out there that will list all the difference online.

Pray tell...what's uprated steering, or indeed a steering tune*?

My XKR has the same suspension as an XK-RS IIRC without that IM(less than H)O awful front end

*If a difference perhaps I'll get the rack from a nearby breakers...I love a good rack me!!

Please excuse my lack of an Oxford comma.
I will likewise excuse your lack of noticing the lack of an Oxford comma.

CJ, you still didn't clarify on my question regarding steering, or are you going for a post count record?

I surely have no idea what you're talking about, Shirley.

Does the dynamic pack on the XKR share the same steering knuckles as the XKR-S?
What other suspension components are shared?

As an owner of a XKR-S, the front end is useful in reducing front end lift at speed and gives it character. 😀

no specific detail in this thread about what exactly is different about the suspension, but, multiple confirmations that it's stiffer. that improves steering. i would wager the scrub radius is a touch more aggressive.

also! excellent cautionary tale in there about carmax that bears repeating anywhere. avoid at all costs. whenever i see a facebook or nextdoor thread that consists of "where can i sell my crappy used car?" whether they write it that way or not, dozens of people chime in with "carmax."

Agreed Jons, despite CJ's attempted pointer there was nothing that said 'the XKR-S has a modified steering rack', and google as I might I can't find an answer.

Mine does have powerflex black poly bushes (stiffer), wortex discs (reduces unsprung) and yellow Bilsteins (same as XKR-S... normal 5.0 XKR's had black or green IIRC?) an X pipe and no back box.. Plus I have MICHELIN PS4S's which weren't available when the RS came out. Don't get me wrong I've no desire to track. But suspect if I were to drop a tune on mine I'd be exceeding an RS's performance and handling by some margin...plus I now weigh in at less than Lewis Hamilton's racing weight and don't know many XKR owners that can say the same

So am still none-the-wiser, perhaps a deflection for the red herring?

Anyone with a RS care to contact their dealer and find out the part number for a replacement steering rack and I'll do the same and compare part no's fr clarity?

*sigh*
It's sad some people are so ignorant.
Marky, I never had a problem with you before, but now you seen to have turned into a hateful person and for some reason specifically aimed at me. I'm clueless as to why this happened.
Sad to say this, but I shall now add you to my IGNORE list where you will be only the third person added in my nearly eight years of membership.
Have a good day, and goodbye.

XKRS and XKR dynamic r share the same steering rack. It’s different than XKR and XK.
AFAIR 2 1/4 turn each side vs 2 3/4 in XKR (a bit faster, more sporty rack vs limo style in XK/XKR)

ps. Check out my topic where I tried to collect differences XKR vs Dynamic R -> https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...c-pack-237745/

I recalled Cambo saying Jag reengineered the steering knuckles specifically for the XKRS, above and beyond just having a quicker rack.

For what I know - the same steering rack in XKRS, XKR Dynamic R, XKRS GT, also F-Type, XFRS etc

Knuckles - not sure of GT; XKRS had two types of forged knuckles. Different vs XKR, but the same in Dynamic R.

So Dynamic R is very similar to XKRS. Different body kit (aerodynamics), interior and HP. But handling should be similar.
